Did Dingolfing shut down for a couple weeks this year? Can't remember exactly, but I thought this was a regular occurrence. It might explain why people are seeing very long "in production" reports.

Seems like it was. My car was "in production" for 3 weeks (now awaiting a ship, thank god!).

The production times for my last two cars weren't nearly as long.

mine also being produced per BMW website

but in the options is missing some specs, is this normal

Yes, it is normal. On mine I'm missing half the stuff. I think that they only have so much space to display the options on the online tracking tool.

yesss I was not expecting to have my car produced today
It was supossed to be built next week

My order went in on August 8th - so yeah, 3 weeks as well! Today it was supposed to be finished - but the online system says it's still in the paint process. I'll check again tomorrow. Clearly there's just a few days left before MY12 go through - so I'm not too worried about it being late!

called the 1-800-831-1117 the operator told me that my car started production on 8/25/11 7:10 am!!

To be fair - "Production Started" or status 150 can sit there for a few weeks. I don't think anything is really happening until it hits status 151, Body Shop Started. At that point you should be able to count down the days until it's finished.

The online system meaning BMWUSA.com then MY BMW? If so I am unable to see exact location ie. Paint, Assembly etc. I only see IN PRODUCTION.

At this point in our production is it possible to add a package? I'm kicking myself for forgetting about the Cold Weather Pkg. The heated steering wheel especially would be perfect for the cold.

Guess how I found out that my vehicle was in production...

I called to add the Cold Weather Package instead of the Heated Front Seats+Folding Rear Seats for only $500 more, and I was told: Sorry, your vehicle is already in production...!

So, there you have it...

too late .... if the car is in production/VIN assigned no way to change

I now feel better that my car went in to production, I was thinking changing the color at the end.
did add a lot of stuff already

Arrrgh.. So bummed I forgot about the Heated Steering wheel!
