Went to Walmart, came out to...

Backed into the spot. Came out to this last weekend

People need to learn how to ****ing back out of car spots without hitting others.

Damage? BMW body shop estimates about $1,200

Damn that sucks. Sorry. Just yesterday I came out of In&Out and seen that someone spilled or threw coke on my roof rear, window, and trunk.

I park my car really far away in Walmart and at the mall and walk the extra 100-200 feet just to avoid this situation. It sucks when someone's 1000 dollar 1995 honda civic causes damage over 2000 to a brand new 60K bimmer.

Bad scene....Wal Mart shoppers tend to be inattentive drivers I guess.

AU- really sorry to see that...1200 sounds right, and that hits your collision policy! Perhaps you can simply find an area thick with deer and drive real fast in the sunset hours.... (hitting a deer isusually comprehensive)

My parents hit a deer in a car they literally bought the night before.. Insurance was comprehensive, and they waived part of their deductible as well. My wife's old civic was hit 3 times in the rear quarter/bumper (only cosmetic each time) in parking lots, and I refused to fix it until she stopped parking in college parking lots. She gets done this year.. and we still only have the car for that purpose. It infuriates me that people can do that kind of thing and just leave.

Or you could just get a can of acetone (nail polish remover works too), a rag and wipe that white paint off and it will look virtually new. Just a thought. Bumper covers after all are the things that seem to get hit first (not including door dings) so it is not unexpected. I'm sure the lady in the big GL550 that scraped your car felt bad about it.

Not exactly true, since this is essentially a hit and run. Depending on the state you live in, it could be classed as an Uninsured Motorist claim (which is a Not At Fault). In Texas, you can go to the local PD, ask for a Blue Form (for accidents on private property), and your insurance company should treat it as an UM claim with a $250 deductible. Call your agent and ask him/her. That's what we get paid for.

I would try the nail polish remover and see how much damage (dent-wise) there is. Might not be as bad as you first thought.

Still sucks ass that people would do this and drive away.

I park as far away as possible, even when it is raining out, so sh---- like this dont happen to me again.

Same thing happened to me but to the right rear corner, only 3 weeks after picking it up.

And this one other time I was still in the process of getting my kid off & locking up the car at the mall and this dumb ass bitch (sorry) goes into the spot behind me and bumps into my rear bumper with her front end no less! and turned off her car while it is still touching. I was still standing right there!

I was so f---in pissed and ready to go bananas when I saw there was her elderly mom and her baby in the car........ so I did what I had to do, politely asked her to back her car out. But damn, how f---in retarded do you have to be to pull some sh---- like that?!

Did you happen to see if the Walmart has outside security cameras? Because if so you could talk to someone in charge of that particular Walmart to see if it is possible to find out who hit your X5.

So I lowered it to $250 and added rental coverage (I didn't even realize I didn't have it)

The premium only went up like $10.

I'll get it done soon. Upside is, Geico doesn't seem to care which shop I take it to. I'll just go to the BMW approved one

There is definitely a science to parking a luxury vehicle.

1) know your locality, a Walmart in Southeast DC and Cherry Hill, NJ have extremely different clientele.
2) If you're in a suspect area, park as far as possible from where you think anyone would actually try to park
3) If #2 is not possible, try to get a spot where there's a curb end or a spot that is only adjacent to one other spot. Try and park as far as possble from the side of the spot that has an adjacent spot.
4) Get a handicap permit from your grandmother, lol!

Geico doesn't seem to care because it's your choice. Most states allow the consumer to choose the repair facility. If Geico is telling you this is a collision claim, I would get a second opinion. I'm not sure how anyone could think a hit and run would be classed as a collision, but who knows.

Yeah, I'm not sure about this either. I didn't call in the claim yet, just lowered the deductible. I don't have time off anytime soon, so it would just be a pain to get it fixed now. Maybe late September or so.

In my years of driving, I've yet to ever need something fixed thru insurance. I always thought you were forced to go to the Geico place. There's a local "Geico Approved" Body Shop in my area, but honestly, it looks pretty damn shady.
