Curb rash on wheel

Just got a small curb rash on my front driver's side wheel. Was thinking of using silver touch up paint to cover it up since it's fairly small. Any ideas if touch up paint would work on a wheel finish? I just don't want to make it worse than it already is. Thanks

to the OP my worse nightmare, I cringe at the thought of those (way too often) occurences.

does this fall under the umbrella of duties a good detailer should be able to do? or having experience enough to do them often?

I don't think my scratches can be buffed out. It's not too noticeable but I know it's there which really bugs me. I figured I might be able to touch it up a bit and then just save some cash to replace them with some nice BMW OEM rims in the future.

Dealerships do have detail people that repair new BMW rims. Check with your SA to determine if this service is provided. My dealer has a group of individuals that handle leather and vinyl, body dent, small paint and windshield repairs.

Post pictures of how bad it is. If the wheel is badly curbed enough and you need to sand it down and refinish it then pelicanparts.com sells Wurth silver wheel paint so you can repaint/refinish wheels with. Wurth is the original supplier for most European wheel paints.

You'll be amazed what a good wheel refinisher can do. Should run you about $125 per wheel.

Just get it professionally refinished. Should cost around $100.

Thanks for the plug. I am the owner of Mackabee's Rim Repair based in the LA area. If anyone would like to give DIY route a chance just PM me. If you do not feel comfortable and would like me to come and repair the curbed rim just let me know. Repairs generally take less than an hour per wheel and can be done at your home or office. Ive done work for various dealerships in the SFV and notably the Valencia BMW dealership's CPO program. Its always fun and it takes about an hour....maybe we can talk cars while I fix it. Take care.

I used Mackabees on my 2011 535i. Great work, took no more than an hour and very reasonable charges.

Hey, just go speak with a service adviser where you purchased your car. Im sure they will have a wheel guy who preps CPO cars.

..or ED cars whose drivers messed up. (Ask me how I know.)
