Would a 325I engine fit into a 318 with ease?

I don't see why not. There'd be work to do, but the chassis is the same, no?

Sorry for my delay guys, been very busy!

I thank you for the honorary wheel whore status....I own more sets of wheels than anyone really needs. Most of them are on cars that aren't even mine haha.

I have made no progress on the manual swap. But don't worry, it'll be done for h2o... We like a time crunch around here I guess.

Will a 325i engine fit into a 318i? Oh yes, My brother just did that swap yesterday as he's building a clean daily driver and we had a 318i shell that was much cleaner than his 325i shell...Yes I did say did the swap yesterday. One day, done deal. We don't mess around in these parts

Videos... yes I'll get them. They are on my computer they just need to make it to teh internets.

Using a GM t5 from an 84' trans am.

Just need to figure out how to mount the master cylinder and such and we'll be rolling.

Updates:

Many changes underway right now.

-Five speed swap using a GM t5 trans from an 84' Trans am

-Power steering is being hooked up using a factory E36 pump, and custom bracketry

-Interior is getting overhauled...new door panels, seats, etc..

-Wheels are getting on the level of the rest of the car. staggered, flush, rare breyton wheels. (sits on m3 contour reps when it's in progress)

the car is torn down completely right now, but Should be ready to take to h2o weekend in a few weeks.

Steering pump prelims:

Honestly, I have no idea.

We all work full time jobs, and I have a very young daughter at home so free time isn't limitless by any means.

Generally, we just don't sleep much. It might not be healthy, but it's necessary.

and most stuff doesn't take too terribly long, especially when you have already done it, and have the tools. in the garage we work in, we have a pit to use(most people dont), and an engine lift. 2 things that help A LOT!

Whose E46 M3 in the parking lot?

Also, great work so far. Looks like a lot of fun. Wish I was closer and could help out!

Nothing, I drive it everyday. The s54 is just a noisy maintenance whore and it drives me insane.

I've driven e36s forever and I daily drove a c5 corvette for three years prior to buying the m3. It just really doesn't satisfy me, I should've bought an e36 M3 as I planned but an amazing deal popped up on this one and I impulsively jumped on it.

I just can't get over how awful the s54 sounds. Sure it's got plenty of power, but the only engines I've heard make more noise when running properly are diesels and e30's. And the exhaust note is disappointing. I've had Dixis and Active Autowerke exhausts on the car and even with both the car still sounds like crap to say the least.

I guess it's all personal tastes and opinion, but I think the e36 m3 is a much better car all around.
