Z4: Faulty Fuel Sender
One of the 2 fuel senders on my 03 Z4 has been bad for about a year now. I have never gotten round to changing it due to how ridiculously expensive the quote was, caused by the fact that you have to buy the whole fuel pump/sender unit as a combined item and then have the tank dropped to change it. So now I just rely on the odometer, which I am getting fed up of!
My question is what is the best way to minimise the cost on this one? Is it worth buying a salvage pump just for the sender parts - if so, does it matter whether it is the right side or left side if I am just using it for the sender components? I used the in-dash diagnostics to determine that it is the right side sender that is not working. For the actual replacement, is there an easier way (like on the Z3 thru the carpet)? It's so frustrating that such a simple job is so cumbersome and expensive!! I use Techron already. Thanks in advance! Last edited by Clarkey; 09-06-2011 at 01:20 PM. |
