God's Chariot. The E30 was produced primarily from 1982 through 1991. The cabriolet was the one exception which was produced through 1993.

Weird idle issues

Hi all, I have a very strange issue with my idling. My 325e has a pretty low idle, at about 600 to 700 rpms. This is fine, except every time I turn on the air conditioning, the idle drops to about 300, then the car stalls. I can run the fan on full blast, but as soon as the ac button is hit, the idle drops. I'm baffled. Any ideas?

That's sounds like an ECU problem. What year is it? If it is 88 or newer, you can do a stomp test* to see if the code correlating to your problem comes up.

It's an 85. It only does it when I idle, when I drive it is fine, as long as the rpms are kept high. Is there any way to adjust the idle to keep at 1000 consistently?

on the icv theres a screw. you can adjust the idle there. its sounding like you may need a tune up. run a can of sea foam before your next oil change. do a 1/3 in the tank, 1/3 in the oil/ then start the car and put the last 1/3 in the brake booster vaccum line. dont let it go into the booster, make it flow towards the intake

I've seen seafoam do some gnarly things on an 85' how many miles does it have? Id take out the icv clean it w carb cleaner then adjust the screw to about 800-900rpm if it still idles funny get it smoke tested may be a small vacuum leak somewhere.

It has 130,000 on it. Where can I find the icv? I've heard the back of the intake, but I still can't seem to find it.
