ordering 2012's

So in a trip to a local dealership Monday I weaseled a local dealer into giving an order on a 2012 for $500 over invoice plus some $200 dealer fee's/BS.

I'm planning on going back tomorrow to place the order but before I did wanted to revisit, Edmunds, Truecar and Zag to make sure the numbers add up. The problem is none of these sites are setup for the 2012's yet.

Zag looks like an interesting site and since I have USAA and my three local dealerships look like they participate this looks good? Is it too good to be true or can you really pull off a deal through Zag that the local dealership honors?

Should I wait until the 2012's are really technically out before getting in line (15th according to the sales manager for the 2012's) then just use Zag or take this guy up on his offer and pull the trigger?

I'm trying to work a deal with a dealers for a 2012 as well but we are to far apart on price. I am also a USAA member so I might go that route but they don't have pricing yet for the 2012 models. USAA price for a 2011 is $2935 off MSRP. The dealer I'm working with said the best they could do is $2200 under MSRP so I think I'm going to try the USAA route and see if I can get the same price on a 2012.

Thats exactly what I was going to do with USAA. I wonder if I could lock in the '11 pricing and have it transfered over to a '12? I realize the packages are changing so that might not work.

My 2012 build with the exact same options was $75 less than a 2011 build so you think they would honor the price but they may renegotiate with USAA every year.

By calling just a few dealers, starting with ZAG pricing and then getting each to beat the other's price, I was able to get $2,750 off MSRP plus get the $1,000 BMW Drive Event discount AND a $1,000 loyalty discount (and i don't even currently own a bimmer). Almost $5K off a 2012 seemed great to me...unfortunately the day I was going into the dealer to actually sign the papers/fill out the credit app my wife finds out that her entire company is shutting down in a couple of months. So, until she secures a new job we're holding off on this purchase.

I don't know. I have had 2 BMWs with the same dealership, so maybe they consider it loyalty? Also, I got rid of my last one in the past 12 months so maybe that's how I'm still eligible? When they said they would give it to me I didn't really ask any questions.

I finally went through USAA and one of the ZAG dealers and ordered a 2012. The 2012 price was actually about $350 dollars less that the 2011 price with the same options. I ended up getting $3205 off MSRP.

Don't forget to join Roundel magazine for $500 rebate in the future. You need 1 year membership in advance (about $50).

I paid $1,000 over invoice before other discounts so you guys are doing really well with a 2012. I am basing the MSRP & Invoice difference on a 2011, it's like $222 above invoice for your 2012 (unless 2012 MSRP widened from its invoice).

Yes, TANSTAAFL, and I will be eligible just in time for me to (possibly) order my 2013. I'm very happy with my 2011. If that continues then my X3 will be at least a 2-year car, and perhaps a 5-10 year car. If it doesn't continue, or if BMW makes some sweet changes (diesel perhaps, be still my heart!) then I might change out for a 2013. I'll want to get my paid-for 2011 into the trade-in stream before the stream is flooded with 2011's coming off 3-year lease in 2014.

Now just when did the first 2011's ship in the US?
