E82 / E88 1 Series (2008 - 2013)
BMWs throw back to the iconic 2002, with a renewed form and function. The smallest car in BMW's line up but still packs a punch. Available in coupe or convertible, powered by either an inline 6 in the 128 or the twin turbo rocket sled 135.

Retrofitting, is it possible? is it the best thing to do?

Hi all,

the 2 things missing from my 130i is Sat Nav and Bluetooth. I've been trying to find something which won;t spoil the look of the cabin and won't show cables, however theres nothing out there I can find in the UK.

Is there anyway to get Sat Nav and Bluetooth retrofitted so you have the factory fit equipment? If there is, is it expensive?

I've seen BMW's suggested Sat Nav device you can now buy from them which they will install and link up to your audio system for about 499, but its still a bit of an ugly 'box', does anyone else have any suggestions?

I'm not sure about retrofitting Sat Nav, but others have retrofitted Bluetooth.

Have you looked at both the tray and the bracket mount for BMW's Portable Pro system? I use the bracket on a nuvi 885t and it looks added on but there is very little wire showing. With a real BMW GPS, there would be significantly less wires. The tray mount goes where the storage box is on the dash of European models (at least some of them). You might like the appearance better. I'm not sure if your primary issue is cost or appearance. Tray might help appearance. You can also use a regular nuvi to save money but you will have to get an old model with a headphone jack to plug into the aux port and then switch to aux when you get a phone call. You can get a 765t for about $125 these days and the mount is about $50 so for around $200 you can gave navigation and bluetooth.

Thanks for the replies, I have been considering the BMW sat nav system that is being advertised, its 499 fitted and I think it will fit in the dash board compartment. If so then it would be a good alternative..
