Hi everyone, was just wondering if anyone has experienced water in the back floorboard when heavy rains come. I have had to replace the seals twice in the past 3 years. i welcome comments.
Many thanks,
Bill
Wish I had my WS6 back! Every bolt removed on the e39 exposes a piece with "German engineering" + horrible foresight and cust-custting by the same engineers. I swear, I hear the phrase "these cars were built right" non-stop and I think I chuckle more and more each time. I'm still looking for a part that doesn't break, leak, smell or burn.

My driver's side rear door seal gave way last weekend. Since I had to remedy the problem quickly (apparently eastern PA is now a temperate rain forest) I just cleaned the barrier where it adheres to the mastic, heated both with a heat gun and pressed the barrier back into place, one small section at a time. It's held up so far; I'll properly take care of the seal soon.
P.S. At 175,500 miles, I'm just beginning to see some of the problems many have complained about with much fewer miles. Maybe it's the luck of the draw with these cars. Remember, they're not new.
Very easy fix using simple tools (Phillips screw driver, flat screw driver and a new roll of "butyl tape", which can be bought from local windshield glass shop for about $1/ft, you need about 10-15 ft roll).
- For models with door airbag, DISCONNECT battery before doing this job!
- Look at bluebee's links.
- I fixed my Rear Window regulator recently, here is the info:
