+1 I agree with you, one of my favorites if the 6 was available in Dark Graphite I would have got it

I had it scratched even before delivery - and finally got center piece replaced yesterday.

Now have some tiny (like hair) scratches. Looks like even putting your finger to the trim - will scratch it.

If is not there something really annoiyng (like I had cupholder cover moderately scratched - I think it's tint guys who did that - put their tools there..), then just keep more attention (do not put any keys, coins, etc there, never rub during cleaning, etc), and just do not concentrate on them. They will appear, but it will not make car looks really worse or drives bad.
Yes, BMW could did something (my 10 old Lexus is much more scratch resistant than 2 month new BMW), but well, nobody's perfect...
Klasse All-In-One works pretty well on the anthracite wood scratches.

I like my early 2011 DG .... indeed it does sparkle, especially when you hit it with the Zaino

Just picked up our DGII 2011 550i 6spd Saturday for the wife's daily driver.
Our 1st bimmer. I'm getting into this BMW'r thing fast! I'm starting to see what all the fuss is about with these cars. WOW. The intangible feel of this machine is very addicting.

Wife picked the color, so I have no horse in this race. I just get the clean it weekly, so hopefully not too much harder to maintain than here white c63 that just got offed for this beastie.

My DG2

Attachment 391112I love my DG2. It's my first BMW coming from a MB W212 (E350).

I love the color. If it looks like a dirty black than so be it. I hate the term "JB looks good when it's clean". Personally, I don't have the time to wash it every week and I don't think it looks 'good' that way being that it's a plain looking color.

Under direct sunlight, DG2 looks metallic and at night it simply looks dark gray.

I have a JB car and an original DGM car. Love JB when it is clean, but the original DGM is just incredible and looks great even when the car is dirty, you cannot tell. Black is like a second job.

Have owned many cars in different colors, DGM is the best color I have ever owned. No need to ever own a black car again-- except oops, no more DGM, ouch!

I think its a result of the availability of one of the components of the paint due to the Japan earthquake?

Congrats, CS1840 on your first BMW, this is also my first BMW and I have DG2 as well. I love the color. My last two cars (2008 Infiniti G35x and Infiniti M35x) where both black on black. I was not impressed with Infiniti's "Black", both cars showed the worse swirl marks on any black cars I've owned. I saw DG2 in the showroom of the dealership and I was sold right there! I was just growing bored of Black cars, I'm very happy with DG2 and even dirty as someone has mentioned it still shines!

I believe the original DGM is offered again on 2014 F10's.

Really? That would be great if BMW brought that color back. It both has serious shine and can render dirt invisible. Also very unique looking.

Looks more like a semi matte black to me, one of the best color on the F10 in my opinion.

Sophisto Grey was first launched as colour code A90. It is a Xirallic paint (slightly different to a standard metallic paint).

There are only 2 factories worldwide manufacturing key components of this paint. Japan & Germany.

This colour was abandoned few years back as the main colour factory was destroyed during the Japanese Tsunami.

Due to shortage of this paint component, BMW still offered this colour but with a different colour code. It was still called SG, but the paint code was changed to B90.

Vey similar colour, but had a slightly less brilliance. I had the opportunity to look at both colours, and there was very little difference in sunlight. The difference was more pronounced under fluorescent lighting.

BMW have now made the original colour code available again as A90 with the 2014 LCI F10.

I do think its one of the best standard metallic colour choice.

Please back up your claim by posting photos of a dirty black F10 and DG/DGII and let the members of the forum judge. As one of the other posters said, the color changes in different lights and is very nice color. However, I've owned my F10 with DGII for a month now and I will say it is on the conservative side but a good fit for this executive sedan. I would not get DGII for the sportier M package as a more traditional color like black or white would go better in my opinion. Here's my photo of "dull looking" DGII.
Beautiful and different. Looks black at first, but upon closer examination, you pick-up the subtle complexities in the color and how it looks different under different lighting conditions. DG and Carbon are my favorite F10 colors. Mine's a daily driver and I'm super OCD about the paint, so I steered clear and went with a more forgiving color (Space Gray), but I always admire the DGs and the Carbons.
