Mein Auto: BMW 2011 X3 35i
New 2011 X3 35i

Just picked up a new 2011 35i, White w/ Black Leatherette, $45K, 200 over invoice.
Panorama Roof, Satin Aluminum Roof Rails, PWR Tailgate, Smartphone Integration, Heated Front Seats & Steering Wheel, On-Board Navigation System, FRONT/REAR Park, Distance Control, BMW Assist

I basically love the car especially coming from a 2010 RAV4 V6 AWD limited. It handles well, acceleration is good especially in sport mode with nice conservative acceleration in normal mode (ignoring the silly take off hesitation), it's fairly quiet even with the SunRoof, the seats are comfortable (at least for me) and the front and side visibity is good.

Things I don't like: Stupid accelerator take off hesitation, horrible NAV system (give me my Garmin), wacky iDrive control system, lack of digital speed display, poor rear visibility, poorly designed cabin storage bins (either too large in door compartments or too small center console storage), lack of space to store a spare tire.

Need help/ideas on a couple of things:
How do you close the power tailgate with the remote or in the cabin, the only way I can find is by pushing the buttom on the tailgate.
Anyone have a good spot to store sunglasses?
To connect a Classic iPod, can you plug the Apple USB cable into the USB port in the center console or do you have to buy the BMW cable for $70? Does the BMW cable charge the iPod without the cigarette lighter option. Does one or both cables allow you to control your iPod from iDrive?
How do you charge something from the cigarette lighter in the center console while running the cable outside the console?
Anyone able to make good use of the center console for storage with the phone/ipod tray in place?
Ideas for organizers to store stuff in the large door storage pockets so little things can be found and don't bounce and slide around?

New to posting and hope this isn't too much info in one post.

TIA

I think there is another cig lighter underneath the passenger storage area.
Just give it a try - plug the Apple USB cable into the USB port in the center console.

This is a feature that is disabled on US vehicles although does work everywhere else in the world. Blame the lawyers...

I am waiting for someone to find a recoding hack to enable it.
