1986 e23 transmission or TPS?

My 86 with 76,000 miles seems to slip or shift early on occasion. I had the TPS adjusted by an independent BMW only shop, and all was well for a while but it has returned.
Since I had it adjusted, I replaced the o2 sensor and the fuel pumps to correct a surging issue while driving.
Oh, my car has 76,000 miles but the trans was replaced by BMW as part of a recall when it had 25,000 miles.
Soooooo, is it possible to need another TPS adjustment, or am I experiencing a transmission slow death? The fluid is new, and the level is okay. When the trans is good, it shifts firm and on time. When it's acting up, it appears to slip and or just shift prematurely.
Any ideas before I take her back in?? Thanks in advance.
