BMW 1M in the world greatest drag race. 82 cylinder, 5000 horsepower, 1.5M dollars

Motor Trend takes an empty airstrip and eleven of the best drivers cars in the world to put on the world's greatest drag race. Why? Because they can.

The results aren't good for the 1M but to be fair it was stacked up next to cars costing 5 times as much with double the HP. Who was your pick to win before watching the video?

Really lame comparison... Were they to scared to use the ZR1?

i was shocked when i saw who the winner was!

Not really that surprised...GT-R's 0-60 is ridiculously low with launch control and much better traction off the line. On top of that, its got adequate power to keep the advantage...maybe the Ferrari would have caught it if the race was longer.

Although its not necessarily a fair fight, I think the 911 Turbo would have won this race had it been used. Similarly the ZR1 probably would have come in 2nd or 3rd (I'd think it still be completely dependent on how well the driver got it off the line). I don't really understand the point of pitting a $50K 350hp 1M vs a 250K 562hp Ferrari...most of the results were pretty obvious...

Pretty interesting. I would have thought the Corvette would win. However lets take the price of the car divided by the speed and wow, we geta whole new leader. Let a tuner spend 5-7000 on each car and see what else they can get out of them,

Well considering they are racing a 300k car, pretty worthless racing.

I thought it was pretty interesting and he did say "of course this isn't a serious test" so they knew it was more for fun than anything. After all they could have had a $1.5M Bugatti that would have crushed the winner, would it have been fare being more that 15 times its(Nissan) price... no but it would have been interesting.

Well anyway I thought it was fun to see 11 cars run a drag race at once and $90k Nissan beet two $200K+ cars... and $40K+ BMW only come in 1.6sec behind all those heavy weights.

EDIT: Oh and I had Picked the GTA3 pre start... secret favorite of mine.

Pre-start I think most everyone would have picked Ferrari 458 and that is what I did. I thought it will be between LFA and Ferrari.

However, 550hp GT-R is no joke. It put those 300-400K cars to shame despite being the heavy weight of the group. In that group without breaking the budget my favorites are GT-R and 1M. The others are too expensive or have really nasty interior quality as is the case with 302 boss and Z06.

GT-R was no surprise; I did expect the 911 GTrs and the FERRARRI TO DO BETTER.
Well it was not the best race. No M3???

i knew off the bat the nissan would win. but i think they should have used the m3 not the m1
