Rusting Wheel Hubs & brake calipers after 19000 km

The wheel hubs on our X5 are painted !!!
that's attention to detail I thought when buying it.

So many OEMs just leave them as bare casting, not caring if the Hubs rust. that looks tacky with large open wheels.

So, now I have 19,000 kms, and can see through my wheels that the Hubs are starting to rust.
But not only that, the Brake Calipers are staring to rust too !!

Surely, if BMW thought to paint the Hubs, and calipers, they would have Engineered them, and tested them against corrosion ???????

Obviously NOT !!!!

this is going on my list of dislikes, and When I take it in for it's first service, I will be asking for new brake Calipers, and wheel hubs as the paint on mine have rusted off in less then 9 months.

Any bets as to what the Answer will be ???

Most manufacturers seem to passivate or put some other coating on their calipers, but it never seems to stand up all that well. My Saab, Subaru, and my BMW, all have rusty calipers. You have to buy Maserati, Ferrari or Porsche - then you get colored calipers that don't rust.

Wink

I have the same problem & yes I live by the water in S. Florida but my hubs and calipers are VERY rusty and I don't believe they looked like that when I bought the car used over the summer. I definitely would have noticed that but they also took the car back and put 4 brand new tires on it and when I got it back, I saw that !! Everyone says remove the wheels and scrub with a wire brush then paint or put some un-seize grease (or something).....anyway, that's all fine and good but I'm a girl & can't really c myself removing tires and putting them back on correctly. Does ANYONE, know of anyone in S. Florida that does this? Seems as though they would have quite the "captive" audience. Please help me or I'm going to back this business and have someone open a shop..ha!!
