What's the current status of the Bimmerfest sign in book? This sticky leaves one wondering if there is a book and if so, where is it at the Welt? I'm heading over in two weeks and would like to sign in.

I'm not sure why there is a question but to set the record straight, it is at the reception desk and is being used regularly. I signed it (as a guest, not doing a delivery) just a week ago.

I concur with JSpira. This book was prominently displayed at the reception and you cannot miss it if you go into the BMW ED Owners lounge. I signed it, and left a good comment. This forum has helped me in so many ways. Truly a great service!!

One suggestion though, Das Buch seemed a little outdated. Maybe a little refacing might spruce it up a bit? Just a thought.

Outdated? Or worn? I made the book almost three years ago so I would not be surprised if it has gotten a little wear and tear. It looked ok 8 or so weeks ago when I signed it, however.

Sorry, poor choice of words there. Allow me to rephrase....it wasn't outdated and not all that worn either. More like faded? The colour was a bit faded. It was just the outside cover, the inside was still pristine.

I forgot to sign it on my first ED in 2007, did sign it this time.

The book is filling up! I signed on the top of page 142 on Thursday. I loved reading through past signatures from other Festers, and hope to sign it multiple times in the near future.

so what happens to the book when it fills? It would be cool if there was some way to digitally archive it for forum members who signed it to look back on fondly

I like this idea. Someone could scan all the entries, but it'd be a lot of work.

Leaving my book (the current one) out of the picture, there were, I believe, at least two books in use at the delivery center in Freimann.

If my book makes it until October 2011, it will have spanned four years.

I have a friend heading to pick up his car in a few days and will be signing the book. What an awesome tradition this has become! Would someone be willing to do a quick "das buch" write up. How it got started, where the book it, what you should do, etc.? I'd like to update the first post to include a few details.

Prior to the opening of the BMW Welt, when deliveries took place in Freimann, there was a series of informal notebooks that served as the Bimmerfest Guest Book. I decided that, with the start of deliveries at the Welt on 23 October 2011, I would bring a nice, hardbound book with me to start the tradition anew at the Welt.

Of course, since I was the first customer to take delivery of a new car at the Welt, I was also the first person to sign the book. Beewang was the second person to sign the book.

By and large, the Welt's staff were new to European Delivery (the only person who moved over from Freimann, AFAIK, was Bernhard Hausmaninger) so I explained to them what Bimmerfest was etc. and they immediately placed my book in a place of honor at the point of where people stop upon entering the area adjacent to the Premium Lounge.

Upon arriving at the Premium Lounge, Bimmerfest members should simply sign das Buch in whatever manner they deem appropriate. If for some reason das Buch is not immediately visible, I'm sure that one of the friendly staff members will be happy to locate it.

I know that the book is getting full so I will be dispatching the Second Volume of das Buch with Christian Stampfer (European Editor of The Diesel Driver magazine) when he flies back to Munich in early November (he will be here in the U.S. for two weeks and we have multiple driving trips planned here).

I got in on the middle of the last page. Das Buch ist voll!

I had the honor to sign the new guest book (#1)! Pictures coming when I return to the US.
