Memory seat

My recently purchased 1985 635CSi has memory drivers seat but I am unsure if I am programming it correctly as it doesn't seem to work. I turn the ignition to position 2. push small button above #1 position with end of ball point pen and release. The green light flashes as long as pen is holding button in. I then push button #1 and green light comes on. If I move the seat position and then press the button #1 again I hear a click like a relay under the seat and a small motion of the seat but the seat doesn't return to the programmed position and then the red light blinks which indicates a malfunction. It's no big deal but I would like to keep everything operational on the car. Any ideas as to what is happening or if my programming procedure is incorrect? BTW All seat motor functions work fine Thanks.

Fixed, Cleaned all contacts and lo and behold it began to work. That could have been expensive!
