1993 525i TCM Replacement

I had my 1993 525i checked out because the Trans Program light kept coming on. The mechanic said it needed a new TCM because mine had a short in it. I found a used one that I am ready to install. From what it looks like, the TCM for this particular model is behind the passenger side kick panel. How does that panel come off? There are two plastic screws, but when I turn those, nothing happens. Do I need to remove the glove box? Has anyone replaced one of these that could give me some help? I also did some research and found that some of the TCM's might be located in the engine compartment on the passenger side under the black cover located there. I looked under the cover, but did not see one there (although there are a couple of computers plugged in at that location). Thanks for any help-this is my first post.
