Thermostat Gasket Question

When I replaced my thermostat it came with 5-thermostat 6-theromstat ring and 7-thermostat housing gasket all circled in RED, but it did not come with 8-I'm not sure of the name of it in BLUE
When I removed my original gasket it did not have that gasket in there. The only thing I can tell that was different about the new and old gasket is that the old one had 6-thermostat ring made to the 7-thermostat housing gasket.
Could someone explain this to me? I have looked over my car over and over again and it is not leaking so I am assuming that gasket is not necessary, but why would this gasket be shown when you look up a thermostat gasket if it was not there in the first place?

Early 91 must be the single gasket, Later 91 has changed to all but #7. maybe to allow for more than one removal of cover. I would of used the similar parts that were removed. # 8 its invaluable to any car later than mid 91.
