Sealant

How do you know if there has been sealant in the radiator before?

Its tough to tell.

However, Cindy, I believe all these questions about coolant lines and sealants etc will not solve the problem. They will only establish that your friend had a problem and tried to fix it unsuccessfully and then sold it to you quietly. Unless you are going to take him to court, it would be pointless identifying all this information. Get the car fixed. Change the engine. I believe your cylinder head is probably gone. When you sell off your engine, get a certain price for it, its definitely worth something. Post on the forums for how to accomplish all of this and you'll make greater progress.

Oops. Forgot. Until you get the title, its not your car. So you could have dumped this somewhere and let it get impounded, ticketed, what not, and your 'friend' would have had to deal with those. You say you just cancelled the sale and he can take your car back and tell him where to go get it.

Post it up on craigslist, and someone will come by in a few days with $500. If he's from the forums, he'll have an additional $2000 max to spend on the car in terms of the new engine, labour, haulage, new hoses, fuel pump, relays, perhaps suspension, everything.

DOn't worry, that's your engine stuff.

What are you doing still driving this car? ANyway nevermind. Just keep driving it until the engine quits (the anti knock sensors will kick in), let it cool, then drive it further, until you reach home... You can't do more damage than it already has anyway..

So long you are covered for theif or fire u can do it But the risk is if you get caught the insurance wont give the check and possibly jail time for insurance fraud.
