Adjustment from E60 to F10
Did anyone need to get over their E60 550i Sport to settle into their F10 550i M Sport?
I took delivery on Saturday and am still adjusting. The cars are very, very different. One is a scapel and one is a power cloud. The F10 is much bigger feeling. If there is a link to the discussions of this issue, please point me there! Thanks!

These discussions should be as hard to find as the ocean from the beach. SOoooo many comparisons of the two.

Time marches on.....dial your clock back and read the E60 abomination vs the E39 authentic threads.
But please the F10 "power cloud" ...... tell more about that

For me this car is a baby 7 and the E60 is a grown up 3. Purely from a physics point of view, this comes into play when parking. If you try and park the F10 you don't know where the right front wheel starts and where the back right wheel ends. It's the cars' width that makes you feel like you are swimming in it. (which necessitates the need for side and top view camera option). The E60 is like a hand in glove, you know exactly where you are and what your are doing. (But it also feel narrow and cockpit like interior wise).
Side note - I think the F30 is going to be the second coming of the E39. It's going to be large enough not to feel like a sardine can like the E90. But it's still gong to have all the BMW purists demands of hydraulic steering, front strut suspension and lightweight to make everyone happy.

I did a happy dance when I turned in my E60 535xi on lease, so anything was an improvement after that.
![]() My adjustment period was short, and I'm satisfied for the most part. (RFTs and tip-in being my biggest bitch points.)

The "power cloud" is a reference to the way the F10 makes power--smooth forced induction. This feels different than the E60 V8 power.

I spent five years in my e60 550i. I miss the direct steering, the edgy styling, the cockpit feel. My 550ix is big and ponderous, it has so much wind noise I think a window is down every time I drive it, I put black grills and a spoiler on the back, but I still just blend in......it has no soul.

My F10 is certainly quieter, smoother, faster, more refined, etc. than my 2010 E60 was. I have the xDrive and certainly prefer my F10 to my E60. That wasn't true when I first got the car. Took me a week or two to start really enjoying it, but, it was the same way when I first bought my E60. I came from an Infiniti and thought I made a mistake for a week or two, then got used to it, and then fell in love with it...just like the new F10. Things change; if you prefer the setup on the E60, go buy one of those instead of the F10. Same goes for those that think some other car is better. Go buy what you like and enjoy.

I went from a 2010 535I with Sport Package to the a 2011 535I M-Sport with X-Drive and loving it.
The only thing I miss are my E60 adjustable seats!!! The f10 adjustable seats just not as comfortable

i went from a HPFP laden 535 sport (which, besides the limp mode on twisty mountain roads i really loved) to the 550i X with (now) Dinan Stage 2. they are VASTLY different, i continue to be amazed by the refinement, raw power, smooth when it wants to be, aggresive when it wants to be swiss army knife that is the 550. it's true, she gained weight and is not as surgical as the e60, but as i mentioned, this trade is worth it to me. 85% of the E60 in the twisties, 150% of the E60 in all other modes.

i think that this quote basically sums it up for a majority of us former e60 now f10 owners. |

He has had this wind noise problem since May '11 and before. He posted a recent thread and I pointed him back to the person who found a small hole at the base of their driver window and put a small piece of rubber there. 5fix states ths did not help, or he wasn't sure where that space was. I had suggested he PM the person who states they fixed it. Mine, like yours, has no noise and is the quietest car I've driven.

I'd take it to the dealer to get it fixed. My 5 is super quiet.
