Rear door manual shades durability

Are these durable? Is tint a better choice from durability, looks, and UV protection stand point?

Can't say on the F10, but I have them on my 03 X5. Occasional back seat passengers use them occasionally to avoid glare. I suspect those with young children with use them. They obstruct blind viewing if they are up in my vehicle. Tint is a better solution for durablility looks and UV and heat protection in my opinion.

Sun shades are good for glare and some privacy, but do not help at all with UV and barely with heat.

I have run my shades since I got the car but will be tinting.

Mine lasted two months before one of the tabs that hold the shade up - broke off. I have a 7 year old and a 9 year old, so they definitely put the mechanicals through their paces early, but there you are.

Still love them and think they are of value - especially with kids.

I have them, plus tint. Makes the windows impenetrable to prying eyes.

I use them 100% of the time, have a young child in the back, no problems after one year...my wife's X5 also has them, and equally are in use virtually 100% of the time. If I didn't have the kiddo I probably wouldn't use them.

Have had the side window shades on 3 vehicles and rarely use them. OTOH the rear window shade is extremely useful: driving East with the setting sun at your back, helping to keep the cabin cool on a hot day, helping to keep that dreadful off-gassing residue off the rear window.

I had them on my E60 for 2 years. My BOYS were 2 and 4 starting when I got the car. Nothing ever broke, though there was some light wearing (they were a little crinkled - just wear and tear) on the sides of the shade where they sometimes used to lift them to peak through or just play with. Both were forward facing and the blinds were definitely within reach.I was religious in telling them to stop it (as much as possible). I'd get them again - they definitely work, unless you want your rear occupants to get a face full of sun. And kids hate that.

I had a 2005 X5 with the shades, used constantly and played with incessantly by the kids. Never a problem of any kind, and they were subjected to Savannah summer sun and heat for their entire existence.
