Question telephone number special characters

I have a new 535ix and a BB 9630 smartphone. In order to call my voicemail at work hands-free, I need to include some special characters in the phone number, like this:
{phone number} * {extension} # {pin} #

This works fine from the phone (always has). The entry from the phone book downloads to the car without the special characters on the screen and when I make the call using the car call feature, the pause and the subsequent characters don't get executed (it's as if the directory entry consisted of only the phone number). Is there a way I can make this work?

Related to this, I also tried to use the voice dial capability built in to the car but I can't figure out how to get the special characters stored in the phone number that accompanies the voice tag.

I haven't tried storing special characters, but when I call my work phone I use "keyboard dialing" function via iDrive to enter the digits beyond the initial 10-digit phone number. Once the call connects, you should see "Keyboard Dialing" below that on the screen. Click that and it takes you to the circular digit display which includes the # and * characters. Maybe you can use this as a workaround.

I was able to use voice commands such as call Matt" in my 328. How do you do this in the 528? When I say call so and so I get "please say the number" There has to be a way to just call using a name, but I have not figured it out and yes I have read the manual.

Provided that "Matt" is in your phonebook on your cell, all you have to say is "Phonebook", after the prompt:"phonebook, please say a name or phone number you wish to dial", then just say "Matt" (prompt: "would you like to call "Matt?") And you'll say yes, it will dial for you the stored number -very easy, that's all I use!

For frequently called numbers you can also add them to the programmable memory keys. Just push the button and the number is dialed (one step).

Otherwise, its a 2 step voice process. Phonebook, then name.

Did you ever figure out how to add the special characters? I am having the same problem. Thanks
