Mein Auto: E92 M3 - 535 xDrive
Finally Joined the M Club

Finally - I could not resist and joined the M club.

Picked up a 2010 M3 Coupe with only 7,000km on it. MT, Alpine white, Novillo Black leather, MDrive, Exec. Pack, High Gloss with 19 wheels.

Best part, is that as a Certified Series the warranty is good until mid 2016; which is longer than if I had bought new (which was my original plan). It has pretty much everything I was planning to order for a 2012, except the damper control.

I figured with the turbo trends etc. - this car would be my last chance to get a naturally aspirated M. Even though the auto transmission by all reports is awesome - the manual combined with the 8 cylinder should render this a classic, and I just prefer rowing my own.

Performance blew me away especially compared to my 2011 535 xDrive. The 5 is nice for what it is intended to do (I lovingly call it das boat) - but I was not fully happy with the steering and road feel. To be fair the 5 is excellent for the size of the vehicle, and as a comfortable cruiser.

Gas mileage is obviously not great, and living north of the 48th it might not be the best winter driver, but that is what the 535ix is for.

One question regarding winter tires and wheels..........

It came with staggered Continental Sport Contact 2 tires - 245-35 19 front and 265-35 19 rears.

On tire rack it seems they are recommending 235-40 18 front and 255-40 18 rears. The only wheels they seem to have are the Sport Edition A7 rims. I was looking at either the Dunlop SP Winter 3D or Alpin PA2s to go along with the rims.

Anyone else use this winter combo.......

Congrats on the ride. Im storing mine for the winter, so can't help with a winter setup, but can add that Tirerack was very helpful when I owned my 335i.

Front license plate required in your state? Just curious.

The photos are in the parking lot of the dealer prior to plates being put on.

I ordered my winter tire setup from Tirerack.com about a month ago and couldn't be mrore happy. However, I chose to go with a non-staggered winter set-up so I went with 18" all around. I got the Sport Edition A7 rims in black and the Dunlop Winter Sport 3D 235/40/18. Call them in lieu of ordering online as sometimes they have different options to chose from.

You will notice a little more body roll with this setup but you will have better traction in winter conditions with the slimmer tires than with the fatties.

Thanks for the information.

I wasn't sure if I had to maintain a staggered setup. I have emailed Gary to see what is in stock.
