trading 08 535 for new 11 or 12 535?

Was out test driving the new 5's and wondered about how others are feeling about looking out over the hood. I thought the car drove a lot like my old 7 series being longer and wider, but the look out over the hood was not as easy. I felt the rearview mirror was also in the line of sight. I did love the interior and is very luxurious. I also could not figure out how to adjust the lumbar support on the comfort seats, I think my 08 has the best seats ever (also comfort seats).

BMW has some sweet deals right now, but I may end up waiting to try out the new 3 in spring. Any thoughts? fabby

I wonder if next 3 will be more E60ish now that F10 is more 7-like?

I would call the new one more like E39-ish size wise. Design wise the new 3 is a small 5 series much like the 5 series is a small 7 series.

I'm waiting for the new 3. The old 3 was just an bit too tight for me in some spots, so I went up to the 5. The new 5 is upped in size and luxury and is like a baby 7, so, if the new 3 goes up in size and luxury similarly to the old 5, it might have enough of both for me, yet still retain the sharper performance of the E60 vs. F10.

Personally, I am still thrilled with my E60, it is in great shape, and I am in no rush.

For me what kind of driving (city nimble / highway cruiser) and how many passengers have great bearing on the selection.

Loved my E38 stretch limo and the kids couldn't have been happier in the back seat cruising down to FL. A little cumbersome around town.

Experienced with two 5's ..... E60 and now the F10. The F10 is almost as big as the E38 and I have enjoyed them both.

The new F30 is going to be used as bait to lure my wife to Munich for another ED (no jokes please Kamdog)!

Interestingly the F30 does not gain weight like the F10 did and is a real looker with more family resemblance to the current 5 and 7.

My favorite BMW has been my 2001 740i sport and I like the f10 because it seem to be the closest thing to the e38 that BMW has made.

It takes very little time to become comfortable with size, parking, and visibility in the F10. I have no previous BMW reference point.

I am also thinking about an ED for a new 3 and get out of my current 535 which was also an ED. My concern is going for a total new design without having driven yet alone seen a real car yet. I so want to go im April or May.

I am wondering if the front hood is going to seem as high up on the new 3 as it seems on the F10? I think if I had purchased the bmw extended warranty, I would seriously think about just keeping my 08. Anyone know of a good aftermarket warranty?

With close to invoice pricing and loyalty/nav/mission drive credits you can snag $7000-7500 off MSRP of a 2012. Ask me how I know this. (see my sig)...

IMO, the driving ergonomics of the F10 are far superior to the E60.

The location of controls to the placement of turn signal indicators (so the driver can actually see them!) to the basic vehicle operation...it's all much more intuitive and engaging.

I can easily list the things I miss in my E60:

- Side bolsters on the seats (hate BMW for taking those out of the F10 comfort seats)
- Exterior Design (I like the F10, but I loved the uniqueness and edgy design of the E60)
- Heated Seats/Steering Wheel (First world problem, but the F10's levels are something like scalding, kinda warm, and why even bother with this setting whereas my E60's were really hot, hot, and warm. My E60's steering wheel got hotter than my F10.)
- Steering wheel was thicker in my E60
- NAVTEQ maps and nav system actually knew where it was going; the F10 nav is worthless and I do not trust it. Thankfully I can run a google map on my iPhone to verify where I'm headed.
- Last, but certainly not least, SPARE EFFING TIRE!

Otherwise, everything else is superior on the F10 for me.
