Change halogen lights to xenons.

Hey everyone. I just got a 2012 x3 but unfortunately left out the xenon lights. Has anyone changed theirs to xenons or knows the process and what is required? What is the usual cost? Thanks for any help!

Don't the X3 Xenons have adaptive lights, ie cornering ability?

I'd call a swap out impossible.

SamS... you don't think BMW service center can do it?

Your vehicle may not even have the necessary wiring for adaptive Xenons. It would need new coding. Just call the dealer and ask. I'd estimate it would be $4-5000. If it could be done at all.

Thanks for your help Sam. What about all the halogen to hid conversion kits online? I know they're non adaptive, but can they be put into the x3?

I'm not too familiar with the conversion kits for the X3.

Here's the OEM part you'd need: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/partxref.do?part=63117276995

About $1300 each.

It is not necessary to go for adaptive xenons. This would be a cheaper solution.

Virtually nothing is "impossible" when modifying a vehicle -- it just costs a ton of money! Ask yourself, is it REALLY worth it to make the change, especially when you might be voiding your OEM warranty for any electrical problems by doing so?

@UncleJ: Xenon mod will be done by the dealership and would not violate any warranty.

I spoke with BMW and they told me it cant be done. Though carid.com told me that they have a kit which could change the halogens to xenons but the headlamp would stay the same. Can I at least get the angel eyes look?

BMW would not do it as a "dealer installed equipment" mod, hence keeping the OEM warranty intact. A "specific dealer" might do it as a customer request (though I doubt it) and then I doubt that any other dealer (or BMW) would honor any electrical system warranty claims afterwards. In any event it would cost serious money. It might be better to just sell that one and buy one with the Xenons -- it would probably be cheaper and would certainly work better. And of course have the all important warranty.

You gotta be outa your tree to even think about it? Why would you want to do such a thing? If you cant see at night, park the car and take the bus....

I wouldn't sell it, I already love the thing. But I would like to hook up angel eyes for it, if at all possible.
