I drove around with an A7 today and looked it over in traffic. Other than the A5 (which I think is a very good looking car) this vehicle belongs also in the -/- category in this thread.
There are to many crosover inconsquences in that design, just as is the problem with the F07.

Whether we admit it or not, most people are drawn to a particular car by emotion. Hence, the reason we react like someone ridiculed a spouse or child when a criticism is levied against our cars. I knew this thread was doomed from the start and that it was just a matter of time before the arrows were launched. By the way, I know personally people who own and drive GTs and Azteks and, in addition to being the kind of people you would meet after work for drinks, they LOVE their vehicles. For me, I wish to everyone the same enjoyment I am having with my vehicles regardless of the type of vehicle they happen to drive.

I felt that way too, till I took one for an extended test drive. The driving dynamics are better than the F10, and the steering feels like a BMW. The only negative (deal killer) was the rear visibility.

OP, Capobranco is an F07 owner who loves his GT. He visits the F10 forum frequently AND he will respond in this thread.

Capo still hasn't responded? I think he is just waiting for my reply and is now going to write an essay on how great this car drives, the utility, etc., but he still won't say it is gorgeous because he knows it is UGLY.
As much as I know some of you guys hate Audi's I am glad to say Audi still doesn't make anything this ugly even the A7 is not this ugly.

The GT needs to go away. To me, it cheapens the 5 series.

Actually the GT sits above the F10 in BMW's model hierarchy. In no way does it cheapen the 5 Series.

As a former owner, I still say its my favorite current BMW sedan - save the B7 and M5 and that's purely from a performance standpoint.

As they say "let the haters hate". I can pretty much guarantee no F07 GT'ers are losing sleep over this

Crazy how a brand can totally nail or fail a design. IMO, when BMW do conservative, they do it second to none. However, when they try and set/formulate trends or do something "crazy", it usually looks very tasteless, IMO.

These day, however, that can go for many brands. Everyone's trying to out fashion the next, out trend the next, and trying vehemently to nail/create the next "niche". It's like "timelessness" is a lost virtue to Car Designers. I liken it to "throwing sh** at the wall and seeing what sticks". The fact that platform sharing (another business model by BMW that has made and saved them tons of $$$$ and has other brands copying) is so paramount now, allows these guys the ability to throw out these designs to see if they "stick", even with the risk of harming the the brands overall "artistic credibility" and current/soon to be historic portfolio, due to not having to invest so much R&D into creating a whole new platform/car from the ground up (like the "old days")
