550i M Sport for X-MAS

I just ordered a 2012 jet black with black interior 550i M Sport (tinted windows). The dealer said it should be here in 6-8 weeks. I guess I am giving myself a Christmas present this year! This will be my first luxury car. I was originally going to buy a MB E350 Sport, then changed to a BMW 535i Sport, and have now convinced myself to go with the 550i M Sport. Let the waiting begin. I hope I made the right decision.

Personally I would have gone with Carbon Black or Black Sapphire, but I am not a fan of non-metallic paint unless it's white.

Thanks, I would have gone with the Black Sapphire but it is not an option with the M Sport package. The Carbon Black is like a dark blue and although I think the color looks good, I wanted a true black. Now all I need is a good radar detector. By the way, for $65k or less, are there any other mid-size cars in your opinion that could compete with the 550i in quality and performance?

Jet black is the true black if you can keep it clean.

Be sure to get the Dinan Stage 2 done. Then you'll know the true power of the dark side.

Since you are so close, you should also consider doing a Performance Center Delivery in Spartanburg, SC. It won't save you any money, but it is a lot of fun. And if you love the power, you certainly didn't go wrong with choosing the 550.

Cool, I just looked up Performance Center Delivery and it looks like fun. They provide a complimentary hotel and professional driving instruction in a BMW similar to the model you ordered. I think I might just do this. Thanks for the information.

Regarding the Dinan, that also seems pretty cool. I wll probably drive without the Dinan for a year and then add it. This way I will be able to notice the added HP and give myself something to look forward to.

Make them do the Dinan as part of your purchase.

When I did it, they had very well optioned 550s as the cars they were using.

Don't do what I did though. I spent the night in Charlotte and not knowing which BBQ place was the best, I went to Bar-B-Q King and had curb side service. Pretty messy meal in my brand new car with oyster seats. Good meal though.

When I was at a 2-day high-performance M-School in Spartanburg at the Performance Center this past August, I got to watch a handful of "deliveries" as well as talk to several of the "delivered". They all were having a great time and when they finally got there cars, it was a very special moment for them. It was definitely a very cool "value-added" event for them, and one of the things BMW does really well.

I highly recommend the Performance Center delivery. If you feel the need for some "go-fast" training, you can't go wrong with their 1 or 2-day schools either, which you can inquire about when you are there.

Make your PCD reservations now through your CA. They have a limited number of slots, so get your reservations early. It's well worth the experience even if you had to travel a day to get there,

Now that I've done delivery at the PCD, I can't see doing a regular delivery at the dealer.

I've got a 550i M Sport on order also with a PC delivery scheduled for Dec. 23rd. So as you can imagine I'm looking forward to a very merry Christmas.

Congrats! We ordered our's around this time last year and got the car on December 22nd as our X-mas present. Still excited about the car. Jet black is a nice but again as you know it's hard to keep it clean. I wash mine every week now that weather is getting cold, I better prepare a few pairs of rubber gloves..;-)

Ive had 2 black sapphire cars, and would have rather had Jet Black. Stands out more, IMO.

Also the paint appeared to be very soft. Probably has nothing to do with it being metallic, but have found that I got tons of paint chips in both of my BMWs. More than other cars I have owned. My jetta didn't even get paint chips like that.

Yeah, I realize the Jet Black is not the most practical choice but it sure is a good looking car when clean. The 550i Jet Black with the M Sport package looks like it is ready for battle. I also like like Carbon Black, Black Sapphire, Dark Graphite, and Imperial Blue. Now that I think about it, I like the 550i M Sport with any color!!!!!!!!!!! I am having fun waiting for and tracking my car. I am still in the "Order Documented" stage and am hoping it moves to the "Production Begins" stage SOON!
