1985 BMW 635CSI - Original Speaker

Hello All,

Just picked up a 1985 635CSi and I love it. The car drives like it's on rails and even though it is an Automatic it sill gets up and goes. I have a question about the Speaker sizes and if there is any way to upgrade with out sacrificing the original look of the interior?

I have a new head unit and when I tried it out for the first time I blew all the speakers in the car! I have looked at the front speakers down by your feet.(what a place to put them!)
and also the ones located in the storage compartment lids and have come to realize that I need to make some modifications. Any ideas?

the ones in the kick panels are near impossible to replace as any modern speaker's magnet will sit much deeper. I ended up building custom fiberglass kickpanels for my first sixer and put speakers in those. And I put speaker in the rear glove box thingies too and screwed em shut so there was no rattling.

All said an done I wish I would have left it alone. You may want to dig through the electrics of the car first too to be sure there is nothing crazy going on already that someone else may have done...word to the wise lol. Often times in these old cars you will start having bizarre problems when you start modifying stuff.

+1 No need to reinvent the wheel. BMW has some pretty good engineering.
