Admittedly a level indicator for DEF would be nice; however, with DEF available at most truck stops and auto stores, and a fill of the active tank lasting more than 1,000 miles, a failure of the DEF transfer pump, or similar problem, is much less of a hassle as compared to things like a bad coil on a spark ignition system, etc.
I just checked online, and: My local NAPA store has 1 and 2.5 gallon containers of DEF in stock, for $5.79 and $11.99 My local Advance Auto Parts store has 1 gallon containers in stock for $7.99
