I bought our used 04 Z4 3.0i for the wife's 50th birthday, two years later she let me trade it on the 08 Z4 MR. So I guess we were slightly ahead of the 52 year old curve and kind of in line with empty Nester's thing. Although the daughter keeps asking me to borrow it. NOT!!!!

Always wanted a roadster. Ended up with an SUV for wife and kids and carrying stuff.
Now I can afford an impractical car that will be pure fun to drive.
I just order a new Z4 28i with the works. It's in production.
Figured I better get one before my body isn't able to get into the car anymore.

Got my blue launch '09 35i 2 years ago at 33, pushing 36 soon. I'm a single job-hunting white/asian man. The car now has 3900 miles so far.

Got my 2012 Z4 35i at 42. I'm 43 now. Want something Italian one day. But thats probably not a good idea.

Age 51 , 2 kids now in college.
Here is a list of the nicest Cars owned from age 16 to now with only 1 car being a 2 seater until now.
1967 Pontiac Lemans-327 4 barrel carb v8- 2 door , 4 seater- wish I had this one back.
Honda 350 XL motorcycle- 1 seater.
1975 2 door International Harvester-345 v8- BIG 2 door but many seats
1980 Buick GS 455 v8- 2 doors but big- wish I had this one back too.
1980 Mazda RX7 LS Wankel Rotary motor- my first and last 2 seater owned at age 19 and managed to hold onto it for 16 years until age 36. Then right after my 2nd son was born, Guess what happens-SOLD.
1984- Graduate college, have the Mazda but with no money to afford to keep on the road it goes into storage and is driven very little. I move into daily drivers and many, many 2 and 4 door, Cheap sedans- Mazda 626, VW Jetta, Ford Explorer, Isuzu Trooper, Toyota Highlanders- note the theme- big family SUVS
Fast forward to 5 year ago, 2 kids, 20 years and counting of marriage and was able to purchase 2008 Acura TL Type S a beautiful and powerful 286 HP high performance car but still a 4 door sedan.
October 2012- sell the Type S and purchase the 2009 35i- Best, fastest, 1st hardtop, convertible, DCT, and nicest car I have ever owned. I will not return to car boredom ever again.
