In short yes it's a apple problem and poor support for Bluetooth profiles in general. BMW would still need to make some changes on their side but fortunately BMW provided a way for customers to update the bluetooth stack in the car now .... Finally. Hmm ... Not familiar with the 5 series scroll wheel in the steering wheel. On the x5 you can skip tracks with the steering wheel buttons no prob. |

iPhone 4s and BMW Connect drive
Recently purchased a iphone only to find that it will not import email messages. Bummer...
My Blackberry Storm 2 was fully integrated with the BMW software. Fortunately, I have another few days to return the apple phone. Checked with Apple and they do not have any upcoming software updates to deal with the issue. Great phone but lacks the MAP protocol to make the phone fully compliant with car. greg Last edited by gregnich; 12-01-2011 at 06:55 PM. |

Greg, which OS was your Storm 2 running? I got a 9700 running 5.0 and I still cannot get my messages or e-mails on screen. I can still get phone calls, address book and music, though..

Blackberry/iPhone and BMW Apps
I was using Blackberry OS 6 on my 9800. My wife's Bold 9780 running OS 6 also works on the BMW. I am very disappointed that the iPhone only syncs my contacts. The email feature was a great thing. Once on the car system the program would read the email back to me when received.

OK, it should be 6.0 then. I recently downgraded to 5.0 after 6.0 ate up all my memory space.
I try to stay away from my e-mails while on the go by locking my blackberry in the storage compartment and using USB to browse my songs, but it is still good to have. Especially for text messages. Was it also able to read BBM messages? Or only SMS & e-mails? Come to think of it, on long commute (NY Traffic sucks!) I might get a response on that CL ad, and might miss it by the time I get home.. I can simply call the guy back.. Although all this will be a lie (just like the cake) once I jump ship to Android..
