SO, the doors were closed maybe 2:00 or slightly before. No big deal, really. Just poking fun - was like "here's your car, bye", ha. I know, I already had overview at ED. Just a sidenote to anyone reading this, they are all EXCELLENT at the PCD, Im just teasing. as a matter of fact, they went out thier way to print alternate directions for me due to an accident on the major road that day. Thanks again! Hope to be back for a driving school some day |

You're welcome
They do close the lobby doors in the morning and afternoon when we are doing deliveries. A lot of people think we are the BMW Visitors Center and we end up with a lot of in and out traffic along with talking in the lobby. It's not fair to the customers taking delivery in the lobby and ends up beind distracting. For that reason, we turn the power off to those doors during that time as a courtesy to those customers. Let me know if you need anything else. Hope to see you back here again soon

Yes, I finally got the records which I'll post here for future reference. The records state "performed 1200 mile service per BMW spec. oil change and diff fluid change" YET, there is NO record of the diff fluid, only the (correct) oil. Ive asked for clarification. In the meantime, Im taking it into my local shop for diff fluids ASAP. NOW, I dont know what kind of damage may have been sustained without having diff fluid changed out at 1200 (actually done 1400 mile). I drove home from Carolina and now have 2800 miles on it. Anyone know the effect of not changing diff fluid at1200 miles??? ANyone?? Buelller? DIFFERENTIAL The differential fluid is part number: 83-22-2-282-583 The Service Bulletin explaining this is: 33 02 11 #83-22-2-282-583 Castrol SAF-XJ+FM (friction modifier), which is: SAE 75W140 GL5 BMW LS gear oil, the first service also calls for an oil and filter change. Techs are very used to using the FM boosted fluid as a fix to address noise during low speed turns. What they aren't grasping is that once the +FM fluid goes in it must be used for the life of the car. BMW has updated their bulletins to state this and has also started spec'ing the +FM fluid as the default fill for the E9x/E82 M cars. The problem is that they haven't updated their "operating fluids" document to state the same and instead are relying on techs getting the information from the service bulletins and/or ISTA. (Note #83-22-1-467-993 DOES NOT HAVE FRICTION MODIFIER) ENGINE OIL The correct engine oil for the N54B30T0 is BMW 5w30 Synthetic. There should be a sticker in the engine bay which identifies the correct oil (5w30 synthetic LL-01). [On my 1M it states “ Use only BMW High Performance Synthetic Oil. Part No. 07.51-0 002 545”] TRANSMISSION FLUID # 83-22-2-167-666(1liter bottle) The correct transmission fluid is MTF-LT5. (#83222156969 for drum?) The correct transmission fluid is MTF-LT5.... but.... In June BMW revised their 2011MY maintenance service bulletin to remove the transmission fluid change from the 1200 mile service for the 1M. This document specifically states what BMW will pay for and by removing the transmission change it means that dealers will likely stop changing the transmission fluid soon. This would also explain why some people are reporting that their transmission fluid wasn't changed. I know that the service booklet says something different, but the service bulletins always take priority. 83 22 2 239 654 |

How did you get your service record? Was it from your dealer or someone else?

That doesnt mean your CA cant help you. Just that mine didnt help me (long story). WOuld be nice I guess to have a VPC contact, I've just never read about one. I wouldnt ask anyone at PCD either, they will tell you VPC does it. Also, just to confirm for you, work is done at VPC. Apparently, they are some of the best body-work people at BMW. They replaced (not repaired, replaced) a rim that I gouged during ED. Cost to repair = over $600. cost to me = $0. But VPC also does any maintenance needed like the 1200 mile service. Kind of funny that I've had to chase these records down, and now to find out 1200 mile service wasnt even done correctly. Sometimes I wonder...... |
