Question Z3 Windshield washer pump not working

Ok, here is the problem. Washer pump stopped working on my 97- Z3. No humming noise or any noise when activating pump. Checked fuses (all related fuses checked ok). No plugged lines. Removed pump and tested pump with a 12volt battery and pump runs just fine when connected to battery. So pump is in good working conditions. Connecting pump back into place and nothing happens, not even a humming noise. Wipers work just fine. Also, noticed that when I connect pump into place and pull lever (@ stiring wheel) to activate pump nothing happens. But if I disconnect the pump and pull lever to activate washer pump wipers start to move.
Please help me!!!
Thank you in advance

Check voltage at connector.
Check for pinched wires which might be an area of a short or open.

Z3 Windshield washer pump not working

Greetings Bob,
Finally had the opportunity to check the voltage on connector, and here are my findings:
Checked voltage on connector, with connector connected to pump; voltage read 0.35V
Checked voltage on connector, with connector disconnected from pump; voltage read 11.30V.
I searched for pinched wires, but could no locate any.
What are your thoughts based on these findings?

Many thanks.

if you feel comfortable with wires and power.

pull the pump out and with a 2 conductor wire (lamp cord) try connecting it direct to the battery. see if it works. (or an old cigaret lighter cord from a discarded device and use the lighter plug instead of the battery)

I did remove the pump and tested it with the battery and pump runs fine doing it that way.

Thank you for taking the time to reply to my questions Bob.

were you able to resolve this issue?

i'm having the same EXACT problem...although my car is an e36.

pump is brand new and works fine when hooked up directly to power source such as battery. i'm almost certain there's a faulty wire somewhere, but haven't had the time to look.

Greetings MrToSlo!!!
I have not resolved the problem yet. However, coincidently, yesterday I had a visit from an old friend, who is a Mechanic, and looked at the issue with my 97 Z3. After running a diagnosis; he said that with 95% certainty, that the culprit is a relay ( Window Pump washer relay) which is located ( on the 97 Z3) behind the glove compartment.
So as soon as I get some time off from work and catch up on my honey Do's list, I will replace the relay.
Hope this info was helpful. Let me know if you get to resolve your problem. Good luck!!!

i've tried replacing the washer relay and it still doesn't fix the issue. in my case, i'm almost certain that it's a grounding issue.

hopefully replacing the relay will fix your issue!
