Break-in service reminder?
I scheduled my 1200 mile service for tomorrow because I've crossed 1200 miles but my car has not told me that it needs service, do I have to wait for a message?

No this is typical for M's to get this initial service before becoming part of the CBS...

Mine popped a reminder up shortly after 1200 miles - we were in Luxembourg at the time driving to Paris, but it popped up the next time the car was started.

Mine popped up when the car hit 800 miles and did the service when the car had about 1000 miles

Read the service Manual before you go (it can be found online at BMW NA) bring it with you and go over it with your service advisor. Assume they have no clue and work backwords. If you have the slightest doubt about anything go to the service MANAGER immediately. Could have saved myself 8 weeks of hassle had I followed the above advice.

Sounds reasonable. Like yinlee, my break-in service reminder came on at just over 800 miles. If it came on while at the PDC they should do the service there. Guess it would have been nice of them to at least inform you that the service had been performed...

Yes. This happened to me. However, no one told me. So I took it in for a 1200 mile service, oil and diff fluid changed but would not do transmission fluid. So I went to a second location and when they checked my cars history turns out PC had also billed for a 1200 mile service. They also did not change the transmission fluid despite it clearly saying to do so in the 2011 manual. So two places billed BMW NA for the same service but neither had done it correctly. So I had to pay out of pocket to get the second dealer to do the correct thing. Then I spent 6 weeks getting the first dealer to reimburse me. I did notify BMW NA they were not very interested. Pain in the ass. Do not think I will be signing up for the extended maintanence plan when the 4 years are up. I would rather pay out of pocket and avoid the hassle.
