Disagree. I drove the S5 even, wanting to like it better than a 335i (both convertibles). I couldn't get over the feeling that I was wrestling with the Audi in sharp turns. like it was resisting my efforts. Quite nose-heavy and understeered. The BMW (I ended up with the IS) is a dream in the turns; it seems like it reads your mind.

The early S5 (and most new dealer cars) don't have the sports differential. The V8 S5 is certainly a touring car. The new 2013 models will be set up like an S4, with the lighter V6 mounted closer to the firewall.

The S4 is flawless on a track, though it is no Lotus. But for that matter neither is a 335xi at the same weight. I guess a big difference is Audi does sports models in AWD, where BMW aims AWD at family cars that don't need sports suspensions.
