Smile Dinan stage 1 for F10 535

Emailed Dinan a few days ago and received an answer from them on when there would be upgrades available for the F10. He said they are working on it but due to the completely different design components between the 550 and 535 they have to start from scratch. No actual release date yet but should be out sometime in 2012. Patiently waiting

Could it be that BMW isn't cooperating with Dinan?

I'm sad to see this as well. I've been waiting. (I followed their twitter feed for a while hoping for some news, but mostly just a bunch of retweet stuff.)

Are their other options out there?

Burger tuning has a tune for the 535i N55 engine. Supposed to be quite good and solve the throttle lag issue. It's also DIY so you can hide from dealer.

Lot of fans on the 3 series board.

I'd prefer Dinan, but worth trying at the price if you have a 535.

There are N55 tunes, but the only one for the F10 535 is the Burger tune. Both Dinan as well as Procede have told me that it's to do with issues with communicating with the F10 in particular. Which it must be, since they've had N55 tunes for the 135/335 for a long time.

Makes me wonder a lot about the Burger Tune.....

makes me wonder whats so different about the N55 on the F10 and why it's response is so slow.

Can't wait until this is released!

Shortly followed by the posts about how amazing the tune is and how the car is totally different

Shortly followed by the posts about check engines lights, and then the posts about BMW not honoring warranty, and then the infighting between end user and tune company

It looks like I'm at least three years away from buying

Since it's all associated with software now, could BMW be waiting to see how the N55 engine holds up in the bigger car, and then offering their own "tune" in a software release? It doesn't make sense that they cannot do it themselves and my service rep seemed to be thinking the same way, hence the delay from the ECU tuners out there.

And now the 135 and 335 tune with bigger air intake.... sounds fishy to me.

ESS also just released a tune for the N55, but as you say they are offering it to all N55 cars except F10.

Interesting stuff. Does anyone know if the Dinan or other tunes will tend to wear down the engine faster, with the increased air intake and harder work?

A few of the tuners have chimed in saying that the full potential for the F10 has not been accomplished yet due to the software/computer being slightly different. I plan on waiting until more is found out before pulling the trigger as I would hate to move forward and a few months later they unlock more horsepower and have to pay again/for the upgrade.

Once released, what is a realistic HP gain for a 535 with Dinan Stage 2?

This is an interesting report. If the software is not out for the 535. How was this guy able to get it?

Luckily, we N63 Dinan Stage 2 owners are still in the first stage of amazement.

Kelleners Sport power module -- available only from Bavarian Autosport! German tuner Kelleners Sport has a long-established and well-deserved reputation for innovative and exceptional engine tuning. Their new power module is proof positive of that fact. Essentially a second Engine Control Unit (ECU), it allows your BMW to deliver more immediate pedal response (i.e. no throttle lag), more torque and significantly increased horsepower. It all adds up to faster acceleration, greater safety when passing and a lot more of the famous BMW "Joy." Kelleners Sport power module also delivers greater efficiency, which means lower fuel consumption when driven in the same fashion as you normally drive. And thanks to intensive development work and testing both in the lab and on the race track, all functions of the original ECU remain unchanged. It doesn't matter whether your BMW has a diesel or gasoline engine, a manual or automatic transmission, rear or four-wheel drive -- installing the power module boosts the power output independently of the standard electronic system. Plus it will continue to work perfectly even if your original ECU gets a software update at the dealer.

The Kelleners Sport power module uses BMW's original connectors, so the installation is essentially "plug-n-drive." (You may need to splice in a wire or two, but no modification of any part is required, which means the module can be removed completely without leaving a trace.) The do-it-yourself installation takes anywhere from 30 minutes to two hours, depending on your level of experience. Detailed instructions are included. Backed by a full one-year warranty. Please note: Adds 61 horsepower and 59 foot pounds of torque

That's nice HP gain but unfortunately, according to the website, this mod can only be done in house in Germany.

Read carefully. The direct programming is what can only be done in DE. The device is a piggyback, similar to Burger, etc.

Check on Bavarian auto sport web site. This is we're the info is from and yes, it is a piggy back system. There is also a you tube video showing a guy driving a car modified by kelener . ( sucks, it's in French I think)
