peeling door sill refinish -- success!

Hey all

I'm new here but not to Bimmers. I just refinished the interior rubberized plastic parts on my '06 750i.

I searched all the parts stores and home improvement stores for a match for my tan (natural brown) interior. No luck until I found out about SEM Color Coat products. "Camel" color was a good match so I bought some spray cans ($10 each) at my local distributor here in ATL (Vinyl-Pro).

As you can see, it came out great. This spray is specifically for plastic and needs no priming. I just did some light sanding to scuff the surface.

where did you get it from i need th exact same color????!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome to the fest "the fly". That's a great upgrade. I was looking into doing something like this to my plastic pieces. Have you posted pics of your ride yet?

SEM products can be found at most Auto Paint refinishing stores. I believe O'Reilly's can order it for you. SEM is a very good product!

Looks great! This is on my to-do list, also I want to "touch up" the gray pieces on my dash pop out compartments but I doubt I will be able to spray them with out some heavy taping (don't want over spray on the wood grain)

Whenever youre ready rookie so we can see how well the new paint matches.

it took me about 1 1/4 cans, but i did several light coats. avoiding heavy coats is key. i cleaned the surface lightly with mineral spirits. the best thing about this product is that the sheen (matte) is exactly like that of the stock finish.

also, i repainted the grey door vent pictured in the last photo. pretty easy as well, but that color is much easier to find in normal stores.

I peeled off the remaining rubber on the sills only. Warm air from a hair dryer helps. I didn't find an elegant way, other than rubbing it off with my fingers.

On the pillars, i just did some light sanding and left the rubberized coating.

What color is the black I seen landau or satin???
