removing resonator only??

question on pip size
our OEM PIE SIZE IS 2.25
what happen if i use 2.50 pip size?
any body? please help b 4 i buy parts for my car

Using a larger diameter pipe will be fine, just make sure you use a proper coupler where the 2.25" meets the 2.5" pipe.

A larger pipe tends to give you increased flow with slightly better HP at high RPM but sometimes a little less mid-range torque due to the loss of back pressure.

I think the Magnaflow full cat-back system uses 2.5" pipe.

how are you?
i want to share my muffler change update

1st i remove front 2 round can resonator
-sound = not much different on sound little bit louder but better gas response and yes car got little bit more faster
Gas if 17 city all stock feels like 13~14 per gallan.
cost $ 30 to do it
i attach 3photos for 1st 2 front resonator remove

after 2 weeks later

2nd i remove center box resonator
so now i'm at 2front round can resonator remove and center box resonator remove
sound= much louder with kind of deep tone
power= since there is no back pressure loss power on low but high rpm very fast
gas= gas goes much faster like 10miles per gallan trust me on this you will see gas goes really really fast down.
cost =$ 30

note: after i remove center box resonator car shakes and little bit of buk buk buk sound
since there is no back pressure.
also when center black plate is back on.
one side of pip touch so i had very loud metal touching sound when i drive.
i have to fits right away

And today 12/20/11
i order from summit Cherry Bomb 429834 - Cherry Bomb Universal X-Pipes (with shipping L.A $45.90)

i remove 1st and 2nd location attach pipes( after patch pipe look ugly so cut all out as you can see on photos)

3rd. i put cherry bomb x-pipe on front 2 round resonator was and
make new pipe Straight out
sound= almost F1 sound kind of high tone (i love it)
power= now i have back pressure now so more power in low and high
gas= i didn't test yet but i'm sure since i got back pressure back froom x-pip hope to save me some gas mileage
car response so much faster also no shaking on car and no mor buk buk buk sound ^^
cost= $45

total cost to muffler systm as is now =$30+30+45+45.90= $150.90

i might keep my muffler systm like this for few weeks and i might upgarde final with magnaflow muffler with dual tip

yes i remove all 3 and keep the OEM mufflers right now

Glad I stumbled onto this thread before pulling the trigger on the full magnaflow catback system.

Took my 645ci to the above mentioned exhaust shop "Muscle Tuner" thanks to the recommendation by Steve. Had my front "can" resonators removed to try & beef up the sound a bit. Honestly not much difference unless I really get on the gas. I think I'll end up getting an x-pipe mounted where the "box" resonator is, towards the rear, for a deeper sound, the "F1" sound isn't my thing. If the x-pipe install still doesn't change much, then I'll look at mufflers to install. Anyway, my total cost was only $45. I attached a couple pictures for your viewing pleasure

how are you? if you want F1 sound like it better to put x-pipe in the two canister (like mine)
i don't know how sounds going to be in the box are (may be deeper sound)

this is my set up right now
x-pipe in the two canister, box is remove and oem muffler



i want dual 4" tip muffler but i can't fine the muffler with dual tip will fit
if muffler fit dual tip is too long and if i try to fit the dual fit than muffler will not fit

i don't know what to do right now i might try remove the oem muffler and just put 4" dual tip

I have it not clear.... my xpipe is wider than yours. your xpipe is the narrow model. i have to study how to make the connections to fit the x pipe.. i cant post pics from my phone to the forum i think...

should i do with 3.5 round dual tip? or 4" dual tip?
