It's probably slightly to the rear and above the throttle body, hiding under the intake manifold and/or DISA valve.

I think the intake manifold assembly changed in late 1998. Do you know when your car was manufactured?

not sure 'bout the '98 model but on mine it's under the inlet manifold towards the rear(near bulkhead).
i removed the cabin filter housing for a much better access. |

ISV location
You should have started the post by asking" where is the worst place they could mount the ICV",
![]() ![]() its under the inlet manifold towards the firewall as stated already.I've just replaced CVV and hoses without manifold removal,to do this you remove a lot of parts to get there, you may get to it but removing the hoses could be an issue, others may have done it with manifold in place ![]() ![]() Do you have an idle problem? |

If I read the realoem diagrams correctly, the 528i manufactured up to 9/98 had the ICV toward the front of the manifold attached to a hose from the intake boot just ahead of the secondary throttle body. After 9/98, the ICV is toward the back of the intake manifold.

Thanks for the help, I was afraid it was under there. The problem I'm having is rough idle at start and a sound coming from under the intake area thats sounds like a damn squirrel fan. I just had the head gasket replaced and at the same time did the CCV and VANOS. I had to replace the VANOS solinoid on it also. Did that yesterday and cleared the CEL, the car ran great till I got to my first stop about 30 miles later. When I restarted the car I got CEL again and a crappy performiing car. the squirrel cage sound I noticed yesterday before I replaced the VANOs solinoid. My mechanic thinks the sound is the ICV

Maybe DISA valve (sound)?
The ICV is pretty much underneath.

I had dat same problem. Check the hose thats connected to icv they tend to tear easy. Which cause an air leak, If its the hose pelican has it for cheap.

If not, please post a picture to that thread with your improvements (so the next person has an easier time of it than you did). Last edited by bluebee; 12-22-2011 at 12:46 AM. |
