335i soon to be on ED order. This time, went very deep into the options list. Buying sport package just to get paddles. How lame is that?

Holding off until I see one in person and until they unveil the coupe and M3 versions.

Forgot to add another important question:
What color? Stick or automatic?? ![]() This has the makings of an epic thread. Let's give it a proper start. Also chime in with your exact specification/option list. Believe it or not the data will be helpful for me to create a profile of what I used to call the "Bimmerfest Spec.". With E46 it was manual transmission, sport, premium, xenon, and Harman Kardon. Titanium Silver was by far the most popular color. I also ask that once you start taking delivery of your cars, let's assemble a gallery of all the possible color combination -- especially the most rare/uncommon/exotic. When I first took over Cutter BMW in late 1997, it was sort of like what you see today. 80% of all 3 series were Jet Black, Titanium Silver Metallic, or Alpine White. As as artist, I think it is cool to let the creative juices flow. I began experimenting with exotic E36 color/interior combinations, and came up with one that initially sounded disgusting. Well, I ordered it anyway. The owner (Mr. Cutter) when he saw it on the availability report threatened me with, "If you don't sell it, you own it Shafer!" Anyway, we sold the first one the first day it hit the showroom floor. After that, I made sure to order at least one with every allocation. I present you Techno Violet Metallic with Modena Natur leather interior... Sorry for the poor image quality. Digital cameras were pretty weak back in those days... What do you predict will be the hot new color for F30? With E46 Steel Blue Metallic was probably the most popular overall, next to Silver and Black... If you are still planning your purchase, what color do you plan on ordering?

Yup, you sure do. The sport AT -- option 2TB -- can only be added if you also order ZSL -- Sport line.
Trust me, I had two dealers confirm this. I also wish it weren't so. It's also consistent with E90 configurations, at least as long as I was tracking E90s closely (until about MY2008). You had to buy the sport package on an E90 as well to get paddle shifters. One big difference between the sport packages on the E90 and F30 -- and the reason I was willing to buy $2500 worth of pack to get paddles -- is that ZSL on the F30 offers four same-size tires. I suspect they are summer performance tires, but here in New England, nothing is more expensive than maintaining run-flat tires of different sizes; sometimes you can even get winter run-flats in the larger sizes. (And, yes, I know many people hate run-flats and change them out for regular tires. Those are also crushingly expensive on BMWs.) |

that sucks...i got the sport auto, more for the performace than the paddles...i actually prefer the old style paddle from my 335's where each paddle does up and down,,,pull to upshift and thumb push to downshift.. I had it down to a science...but i am exciting about the improved shift times over the ZF 6

Will be waiting for the release of the coupe. Not sure what color I will order but it will definitely have the manual tranny and most likely the m-sport package.

Jon, if I don't wait for Msport, I'd do this. I would try to get saddle added as a special order, get black high gloss trim finishers, and delete the black door mirror caps.

So, for anyone who's thinking of ordering ZSL and specifying 4AD/4DL (aluminum and black trim), you should know that the dealer I am working with cannot figure out how to order this combo and is insisting it cannot be ordered on a US-spec car.
Anyone else heard this? |

Waiting to see what the M3 variant looks like.
Interlagos Blue. Undecided on manual vs. DCT; waiting to drive it. I plan to order the car for ED and load it up with almost every option.

This is way too far out to be relevant but I'm currently planning on an M4 (M3 Coupe depending on what they call it) for ED in May/June 2014. The color will tentatively be Estoril Blue II, depending on what they offer for the M4. I'm leaning towards the DCT only because we got a 6MT in the 335is. Package/options TBD, but probably including Premium, Nav, and Premium Sound, and whatever go-fast bits are offered.
