Ordered 335i: seemed to be too easy

So i just got back from my local dealership where I put down a deposit on a 2012 335i. I used bmwconfig.com to build my car, added $1,000 in dealer profit over invoice and presented that as my offer. The dealer accepted it in about 5 minutes, leaving me to worry whether I really had a good bead on the wholesale price. It should have been harder. He had two production numbers, and gave me one of them. I expected a more difficult time getting $1,000 over invoice on a new production model.

So, did I get hosed?

You gave them 1k dealer profit on a 3 series? Damn, that's generous.

wait a second...are you saying you got it for 1k over msrp or 1k over invoice(which would probably be like 2500 off msrp) thats a decent deal if thats the case...my guess would be the delaer still has e90's...

I got it for $1,000 over the invoice price (not MSRP) as calculated on bmwconfig.com.

I can put an order down when my dealer gets his next round of open build slots for a 3 series. I think my SA said new orders were going for $300-500 over invoice depending on the MSRP. Current E90s on the ground are selling for thousands UNDER invoice.

I ordered 335i for $500 over invoice.

i didnt negotiate the price for mine yet...just ordered it...figured without the residuals begin available...just take care of the numbers when the car gets here

I would expect that for an E90 at the end of its production run. I am talking about an F30. Still, it sounds like I left $250 - $500 on the table. Such is life. If I only missed by $500 on a $50,000 car, I am not going to lose a lot of sleep.

The fact you did your research and worked from the invoice price means you likely did better than 95% or more of the people buying cars out there, so you definitely have the right attitude. Enjoy your new car!

lol yeah very pointless. 3 weeks after we got our PN for the 550xi it didn't move I was calling once a day even though I knew how pointless it was

Thanks for the praise. I still love this car, hard to believe this is year #10. F30 in 2012, but will keep this one for a long time.

Don't forget to capture the screen shots as it progresses through the various stages.

+1000 over invoice isn't bad if it includes maco and training fees. N4S
