Competition Package Gone in 2012 Models?

Hello.

Very recently, I ordered a 2012 M3 Convertible, and went through both www.bmwconfig.com and Build-Your-Own via www.bmwusa.com. I'm doing European Delivery in January 2012.

But...in reading postings here, and as a first-time BMW owner, it's become noticeable that there existed an option called the "Competition Package" -- and I see it referenced all the time. So it got me to wondering if I missed out on something in these configurators, or if that was something that was offered up to and only 2011 year vehicles, or if the 2012 Options I got called Premium Package and the add-on of 7-Spd DCT and Electronic Damping Control actually includes the stuff that was in the "Competition Package," or ....?

Could a nice person explain what may have changed...or not changed?

The one I just picked up is a 2012 and it has the competition package.

I believe the competition package is not available on the M3 convertible.

Thanks. This means I won't have to suffer buyer's remorse by failing to select an available option!

The only noticeable difference is the zcp wheels. The drop is not a big deal and the EDC tweaking I don't notice anyway. I liked the rims so I got it.

EDC settings are very noticeable, my wife knows every time i put it in the stiffest mode.

I totally agree with this......my CEO is always asking if can put it in the "soft mode"........Phil

I am talking about the tweaks to the EDC... you can get EDC without the ZCP. In ZCP, they made the stiffness variable in sport mode (as it is in comfort and normal). In the non-ZCP, they made sport mode non-variable and locked at about 75% of full stiffness. Can you tell the difference between the ZCP sport mode and the non-ZCP sport mode? I doubt it.
