Ipod cable Issues in 2008 328i coupe
Hello everyone,
I own a 2008 328i coupe that has 14k miles on it. I bought my car with the Ipod Y adapter so my songs could get interfaced with car's stereo/radio. A few months ago, I've noticed that when playing my ipod thru the radio, the sound was horrible and the speakers sounded like they were crackling/distorted. However, if you play music out of the radio or cd player, they sound perfectly normal and very crisp. The ipod that I have is only 2 years old but I've even tried a new ipod mini in my car and the sound is still the same. Bmw gave me a brand new Ipod Y cable and that did not do the trick. Has anyone ever experienced this before? Any suggestions on what I should do or what the problem may be? Thanks, Josh |

Josh - did you ever get this resolved? I am starting to have the same problem with my 2008 328i?
Thanks, Cat |

I've had the same problem for several months now w/ my 2011 335i. There's a sound limit setting on the ipod
\, but doesn't fix the distortion. BMW service department had no idea what to do. I'd like to hear if there's a fix. |

I found this on another board when I was looking tonight:
Try turning the Aux level down to 2 or 3 and try using the headphone output from the ipod to the aux input instead of the lead coming out of the ipod adapter but keep the usb part plugged in. I haven't tried it yet, but I will let you know if it works. |

I think I found a solution. I used an extra aux cable instead of the one on the Y cable. So I still plugged the usb into its port, and the extra aux cable into the aux jack and the other end into the ipod, and I was able to get the ipod to show up on the stereo with no distortion.
I did eventually find the Aux volume though. I held down, I believe, the Random button when i had the ipod playing and aux volume magically showed up. I haven't tried changing it to 2 or 3 and plugging the aux cable from the Y cable back in.. but at least I know where it is now. Hope this helps.
