Unless I missed, did you say whether you are buying or leasing? If leasing, might as well go with what you really want...Rover. Just be prepared of potential issues. I also agree it is a plus BMW has taken responsibility on this, however, not so sure other manufacturer's would. Good Luck, either one is a sweet vehicle.

The RR Sport is great. This is our second one: a 2010 RR Sport.
No problems, great smooth ride, superb all-wheel drive, air suspensions, etc. I have two BMW's also...uh, no...not so reliable, but still love them.

Good to hear that BMW is owning up to the manufacturing defect and offering you a buyback w/o hassle. However, it may be too much of you to demand a loaner for several weeks, if not several months, while awaiting production of new vehicle, esp. if a MY2012 is what you want. IMHO a fair resolution for you would be (1) Buyback of lemon at 100%, (2) Fair deal on the order of either a MY2011 or 2012 of your choice. GL with whatever choice you make on the new car.

His X5 had a build date of Jan 2011. Phillyreem, any idea when your build date was? It would be on the black plate inside the driver side front door (but I'm guessing you no longer have the car). It would be interesting to see how far back this issue goes.

Been driving a Range Rover Sport for the last two weeks while my X5M is being repaired...i would never buy one...EVER. There is no comparison in any metric I would ever use. The ergonomics, driving dynamics, comfort...you name it...the X5 is the clear better vehicle. Quite frankly...I can't figure out why anyone likes the Range Rover Sport. It has a decent engine...but just about everything inside the vehicle is wrong...the electronics are a mess, the drivers door handle hits your left knee, the shifter is too tall, body roll is horrible, steering is as numb as can be, there's a constant grinding in the steering linkage...it's all bad.
As for my repairs...someone decided to redecorate my front end recently...and broke every plastic part that BMW installed there. I can't wait for my X5M to come back. I agree with the previous post. If really down with BMW...consider the Cayenne. My previous vehicle was a Cayenne Turbo S. A very good vehicle...but in prefer the driving dynamics of the X5M. |

New to this forum - have a 2013 x5 - started making the same creeking/popping noises - first from the right rear and then from the right side also - started at 2 months - 2000 miles and now has 4700 miles - been in and out of the service shop for past 3 months - BMW sent factory engineer to look and he said to replace the rear gate pull down mechanism - didn't do a thing - now BMW is sending another engineer on 3-27. I've asked for a replacement but dealer says that call must be made by the factory - very frustrating.

"ask" for a replacement???????? You "demand", not ask. Once you have your ducks in a row, they dont have a choice. Have you met the requirements for a lemon claim in your state? Lots of posts on how to proceed. A
