I am new to the Z4. Purchased this month and just going through the car checking out various things. Replaced the cabin filter, a couple of burnt out bulbs, and located my bluetooth Pass Key on the Telematic Black Box which was a real battle but I got it. Noticed the wiper blades were a little worn so I looked into replacing them. I went to a local Car Parts Store and was told the passenger side was 20 inch and the drivers side was 21 inch. Check the existing blades and that was what was on the car. Bought the blades and while installing them noticed on the drivers side there was a wind deflector attachment. This device is well made and pretty heavy and attaches to the wiper blade with torx screws. Is this device OEM or an addon? There was no such device on the passenger side. The deflector is pretty heavy and I am concerned that if it is not OEM whether it should be reinstalled. Don't want to overload the wiper motor.

realoem.com does show a deflector blade only on the drivers side for your car.

Yes, the stock driver side wiper blade on the E85/E86 has a little spoiler on it. Not sure how important it is.

A lot of folks are converting to the new aero style beam wipers as well(i.e. Bosch Icon, etc).

Well, I got around to finishing up the wiper replacement job and discovered the driver side wiper blade unit is a complete assembly. The wind deflector is part of the blade assembly and cannot be transferred to new generic blade assemblies. The good news is that the rubber wiper insert can be replaced. The wiper edge from the generic replacement blade fit into what must be an OEM Blade Assembly. I wonder what a 21 inch driver side wiper blade replacement cost from a BMW dealer?

Bought a pair of wiper inserts last spring from the local BMW dealer for about $7. They were over length and made to be trimmed to the required size. Stock number was 61-61-0-154-440. They work just fine.

I don't think yours has BT as it started later in the run(late 05 and on I think)

The blades are $28 for the right and $31 for the left(MSRP). As already said, you can just buy blade inserts a LOT cheaper.

On the BT. My Z4 manufacture date is 02/05. That info is off the driver side door jamb. I didn't know anything about BT except on the left hand spoke of the steering wheel was the BT icon (A profile of a stylized human head "speaking") When I pressed the button the radio display said "Phone not Activated" or something like that. I went on from there.

The dealer price for new wiper blades seems reasonable.
