NBC Nightly News Story

If you live in a market where tonight's newscast has not yet aired, check out the segment on the BMW crash in LA. It appears abot 15 minutes into the broadcast. Unfortunately, the clip is not available yet on the NBC website.

When you see the footage, you will not believe a mother and her 2 kids emerged, virtually unscathed, from their BMW.

Really, WATCH THIS IF YOU CAN.

I saw that on GMA this morning. If they had not told me it was a BMW I would have never known. It was unrecognizable. A sure statement of BMW safety.

It was an E46 325i. And it was right here in Santa Barbara, not LA... I was going to post pics the other day when it happened. The crash occurred on the old original "Bimmerfest Road Rally" route from the early 2000's...

Repost for like the 10th time... nonetheless E46 (and BMW in general) FTW! My E32 also protected me very well when I was t-boned by a Lincoln Mark VIII. I walked away with no injuries.

I just had an accident where some woman swerved right without signaling, hitting another vehicle where the second vehicle spun and slamming into my front right wheel breaking my suspension.

Oh they both blame me for the accident (despite me being in front), so I got a citation for unsafe lane change?! WTF!

Saw that. Insane.

Sorry the "repost" intruded in your otherwise perfect day. I posted literally while the segment was airing here in Boston, with the thought that Festers in the Midwest or the West Coast might want to tune in. It wasn't specifically to offend you, and I had not seen the story anywhere else on BF, so did not know others had the same idea.

So much for trying to pass along information others may find interesting....

No offense taken (with exception to the flipoff at the end of your post). It's been posted in almost every BMW forum and sub-forum I've seen over the past few days. I actually saw the news article on 1/13 since I live in Southern California so you're a little late to the game... You need to relax, I was just trying to point out that it's already a known news item. Either way, it just goes to show the quality of build in our vehicles

Judging by the number of hits and responses, I think it came of interest to a great many folks, even though NBC News didn't mention it was "yesterday's news" (why am I not surprised).

Anyway, for good measure...

That was crazy! They were literally hanging by a thread until that huge forklift came to support the car. It's been played all over but it's still gripping to watch.

and members of the Navy just happen to be driving by equipped with a large fork lift none the less to help keep the car from falling over the bridge during the rescue ... very lucky lady and kids.
