hey guys, straight to the point here. just got a used 2000 328i sport package currently has 149,XXX on it, bought it when it was 146,XXX. Anyways you know when u put the car into ignition position and it shows how many miles you have left until your next service. Mine says i got around 2,000 miles left until service. My question can i change the engine oil and filter and transmission oil right now or do i have to wait until i finish up my miles? What else should i be expecting to do when my miles is up and my mileage is now gonna be around 150k. I haven't talked to the previous owner about what he has done to the car already. THANKS GUYZ
oh yeah i'm going to be using royal purple 5w-30 and royal purple synchromax. Bmw dealer said they recommended not the change the transmission oil because it last for a lifetime. is that true? how long does royal purple synchromax last? sorry for all the dumb questions. just want more knowledge about my car. THANKS GUYZ FOR YOUR TIME!

Is the car auto or stick ? If stick, the trans fluid should be changed every 30K miles or so. Engine oil, every 7500 miles (BTW, 5W-30 RP is probably too thin, Mobil 1 0W-40 is better....or the factory-approved Euro-Castrol when the dealers have it for a good price). "Lifetime Fluid" is a joke. Change everything now, including the diff oil.

its a 5speed manual. okay, thanks for the advice. will it be bad if u used royal purple 5w-30 on my car? i bought 7 quarts, plus i don't have the receipt with me no more so i don't even know if i can return it all back. will royal purple cause any leaks to my car at the mileage that it's at? increase or decrease engine performance? is there anyone out there that had good experience using royal purple products? any improvement or problems?
