HELP! 08 4.8i not starting...

I live in the Boston area and it's been rather cold out especially this past weekend. I drove the car last this past Thursday and it started without any issues. My wife and I were headed out for dinner this evening and decided to take the X5, but when i tried starting the car, all the lights came on, the radio played without any issues, but the car would not start. I did not hear the car turn, nothing happens when i hit the start button.

I found this while doing a google search and wanted to get input from people here, since the OP had a 03 X5 and not a 08. http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=737560

(See the rather helpful assistance from "Darth Bimmer")

I've had this X5 for just under 2 weeks now. Luckily it's a CPO vehicle and has warranty.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, especially the link to e46Fanatics.

Wasn't aware of this issue at all . . . but when folks in the know respond, could you also indicate if the "upgraded parts from 740i" DarthBimmer is referring to, is already implemented in the e70 model, or should I ask for it at my next next service visit?

g0tb00st, I know this doesn't help you, but hopefully this thread will prevent others from having similar problems. Many of my trips are very short and occasionally I do run into relatively cold weather.

Thanks.

Mein Auto: X5 4.8i well equipped
Your battery may possibly be to low to start the car, but has enough power to operate radio and other minor electronics, does the stereo still turn on or have the lights started to flicker indicating the battery is almost dead.

The beater I'm using because I'm indecisive and can't choose what car to buy, just started doing something everything would start the RPMs would kick up to like 1.5/2 then they'd go down to 0(stall) and nothing but the radio and electronics would work Only way I can get it to go is when the Rpm's hit 1.5/2 I mash on the gas and keep the Rpm's high and then its fine all day

That guy in the x5 from the e46 thread got screwed big time though.

Not sure what's going on with my X but it started up today like nothing happened. I'm going to get my battery checked out later on, but I just drove it around for 30mins to make sure it didn't die. FWIW the temps are definitely higher today than it was yesterday evening.
