BMW Coding

Anyone has experience with using the BMW Coding software. If you do, what did you add as an additional feature.

I would love to get rid of the idrive warnings, remote tailgate close, digital speedometer for sure.

Perfect timing, I was wondering about coding to auto fold in side mirrors when locked.

Thanks for the link... I would love all the features which you had on your vehicle. Is your X5 model 2008 or 2009?

I read all the posts and no one is clear about the warranty when we change the factory settings. I have a 2012 with 1000 miles and I don't want to screw up the warranty.

I don't want to discourage people from trying coding because it is not impossible and it is rewarding to do something on ones own. That being said, I thought about my skills and my previous experience with DIY projects and opted to have it coded through a forum member. If people on this forum are willing to do coding for a reasonable amount I would encourage them to make it known. I know we don't have a thread section for DIY for the X5 yet, but for $60, I had my coding done and am very pleased with the results and feel there are members who would be interested in sharing some of their skills. Good luck ICUC in coding, its cool to have the mirrors and windows close from the fob.

Also hat tip to blue dragon for helping my coder when he encountered a little trouble.

I have an '09, its the same procedure. Some of the modules will have different names in the '12, and you will need the latest daten files to read some of the modules.

Do you think, I could use the same cable for '12 as well?

Anybody near Portland Oregon with experience in coding? I'm looking at a preowned 2011 X5 35i, and would want to code the tailgate closing from the dash button and the folding mirrors. I'm surprised you have to enable these features with a software hack. Our MB has the power folding mirrors that fold when locked and my Mazda CX-9 lets you close the power tailgate from inside.

What's the programming for the auto door locks? Does it not unlock automatically when you pull the driver's door handle ?

Here is a list of some features that can be coded.

) Turn off seatbelt chime for passenger
2) Enable DVD in Motion
3) Rolling of windows and sunroof up with the keyfob.
4) Folding and unfolding the mirrors with the keyfob (and Comfort access door handle).
5) Allow one touch operation of the windows while the door is open.
6) Allow remote opening/closing of motorized tailgates on X5 with keyfob and in dash button.
7) Amber corned delete: turn off amber corner light when headlights or parking lights are on.
8) Fog lights stay on with high beams and turn off when bi-xenon flashing.
9) Make the rear fog lights work in tandem with brake lights.
10) Add the digital speedometer to non-M cars (V=## mph) in addition to existing options.
11) Remove the correction on digital speedometer
12) Have the windshield wipers complete the cycle and park when you shut the car off.

Question?
When u go to the dealership for a basic oil change or service do these changes/coding pop up and get wiped out?

The only way they will get wiped is if the specifc module is recoded (updated with new software). There are different modules, CAS, FRM, KOMBI etc, so different things could get wiped, if the dealer flahses. E.G, during the emissions recall, my CAS got flashed, so I had to recode somethings.
