Launch Cars - 335i
Good (!) stop by the dealer yesterday. I've had a deposit on the first 335i allocation they get, but so far dealer has not gotten anything other than the three launch cars, 2 328is and a 335i. But things to note about the 335i launch car:
It arrives at dealer about 4 days before the 11 Feb launch and - depending on the dealer - may be available to view and buy then. It (and probably the 328is) will be loaded, BMW's practice with launch cars so dealers have all the features to showcase when they get the cars. The lease rates are stunningly good. On 36/15K the MF is .00195 and the residual 62%. Add 2% to the residual for 12K and 3% for 10K. I just bought the launch 335i and expect to see it and drive it off on the 7th of February. Melbourne red, Sport line, black interior with red trim. Sport-auto transmission. Every option etc. except Driver Assistance package. Stock wheels. And one more, something called 2VF Adaptive M Suspension. $900 MSRP. I'm pretty sure it's the Sport, Sport+ etc. button as in the Z4, but it does not show on the BMWUSA Build-Your-Own list and somehow I had impression that this was standard in Sport line. Interesting... |

I read the other day the ECO/Sport/Sport Plus button only affects the transmission shift points and the power steering boost. I'm pretty sure that info is correct.

Above is roughly correct unless you get a Sport Line with 2VF. In that case, it also controls damper stiffness. In ECO mode, I believe it also reduces power to accessories, climate control, etc. and gives you suggestions on how to save fuel (upshift cues when in manual shift mode) and also damps the first 70% of throttle input.

See pages 106-108 in the manual posted online.
Looks like you can configure some things within each mode via iDrive. I do not know if what is shown in the manual is exhaustive.

A better description of the 2VF M Adaptive suspension option from bmw.com:
Adaptive M suspension. The optional Adaptive M suspension provides further reinforcement for the dynamic driving characteristics of the new BMW 3 Series Sedan and exploits their visual effect to the full, without comprising in any way on comfort. In the optional Adaptive M suspension, a lowering of the chassis by ten millimetres and electronically controlled dampers result in increased agility. During the journey, sensors continuously measure data and control the shock absorber valves in the Adaptive M suspension according to the driving situation and road profile. This takes place for each wheel individually so that optimum road holding is guaranteed at all times. An electronic control unit processes information on wheel, lateral and longitudinal acceleration, on vehicle speed as well as on steering wheel position in order to adapt the damper parameters to the road profile and driving situation. In addition to this, the driver can individually alter the setting of the suspension to increase comfort or sporting character via the Driving Experience Control. |

Guess the 328i might still be worth a whirl, if optioned correctly. I see it listed on my local dealer's website but didn't see it parked visibly outside today.

Is that the base MF?

The residual seems decent, but is the MF really that good? That equates to an interest rate of 4.68% - not horrible but in these days of amazingly low interest rates, could it be better?

Not a great MF, but the residual is high...

I saw the 2VF adjustable shocks on the configurator as a $900 extra in the MSport package.

Dunno. What was quoted to me. Many-times return buyer at same dealership.

Add 7 MSDs and it gets down to 3.5%.
